Yes you do which begs the question: Does saying yes or no to the movie actually matter? The game doesn't let you avoid him because max has him in her friendzone, like she stuffed him in a barrel for keeps.

But if you say no to the movie invitation Max would say somthing along the line of "I don't wanna lead him on" which is a clear indication that Max doesn't want to be anything more than friends with Warren. She views him simply as a geek friend. Which I personally think would come back to bite her.
