Release dates..
So I love this game but the episodic system is kinda ♥♥♥♥ since you have to wait really long for a next episode to come out.

Which means I'd like to ask of the devs to release another season but rather than doing it episodic, just release a full game. I know how annoying the wait is for many people so I reckon I am not the only one who'd appreciate a full release.

Thanks!

It gives you time to think about your choices

i think a complete game would be better episodes suck cos the waiting time between them im waiting for number five befor i buy the game

Or instead of asking the developers to abandon the episodic concept once could just opt to not buy the game until after all episodes have been released. I know that in today's day and age people have become impatient to even wait on the episodes of their favorite TV-series but I honestly believe series (even for some games) it is more fun if they make you wait for the next episode.

I love the way Dontnod does episodic games because they give us each new part to the story in an announced time frame, 8 weeks. So there is no waiting around wondering if it will be this month, this year, this decade, etc. You know the next episode is going to come in about 8 weeks or so.

This also reallyhelps the developer because announcing a time frame for the next episode release ramps up the hype machine to insane levels. That is why the Life is Strange forum is so busy all the time because the fans all know that if they want to post a theory about the next episode they have to get it done in that 8 week time frame, otherwise everyone knows what will happen and your theory is completely and totally worthless.

Developers like Telltale, who have been very successful in the episodic genre, should take notice of what Dontnod has done here and they really should ramp up their commitment to getting their episodes out in a timely fashion like Dontnod has done or they may find themselves wishing they had.

I personally love the episodic system; it gives the game a lot of suspense. It also gives the makers time to get the game to the expectations. I understand where you're coming from, but coming from my personal opinion, I love it the way it is...

I think the episodic system can be good. But with way smaller holes. Maybe 2 weeks, or a month.

Don't forget, they actually still working on ep. 5.

@swaders the game is just too good to do that.

i like episodic because a game like this that is so story drven if it were to come out as a one full game id finish it in one sitting and leave me so unsatisfied. on the other hand episodic forces me to play the game bit by bit and enjoy it over time giving me time to think and take it all in. its like a fine wine dont just chug the whole thing savour it!

I agree with the long wait being annoying, but i like the episodic system on games like this one, but still i waited until EP4 before buying and now its at least one more month wait for me for the final and it sucks

Ep5 is likely finished, but polish or something, i mean even video games are in stores like a week inadvance of the release date.....so i wouldn't be surprised if episode 5 was being worked on before even episode 2 was released.

I don't think that is possible because the episodes would be too short, even less play time then LiS episodes which are short. The team needs to have at least 2 months to be able to put out something the quality that LiS has, anything less and we would not be on the forums wanting the next episode because it would be far less quality and in the garbage category.

I like what Dontnod has done in the episodic genre because this sets more of an industry standard to put out the next part of your game in a timely fashion and not the slightly less then forever fashion other developers like Telltale seem to take between episodes.

If they released them as whole games you'd be doing the exact same thing you are doing right now, but instead of episode 5 you would be talking about a sequel.

I don't get why people want the ending to be so soon. I'm glad that it's not in near sight. Then the game is over. Just be glad this isn't Tell Tale games compared to these games. They release every 2-3 months. Sometimes going even longer then that on average. This game releasses much quicker and it's much better. I literally waited nearly an complete year for them to release a full game. Just saying it could be worse.

Yeah, besides, a month after episode 5, we won't have much to talk about on these forums anymore. And we don't want the forums to go now do we?

That is true. Most of the ppl here would leave a month or two after the release of episode 5. If the game was released in one goal, IL the forums would probably be active for 4 or 5 months and then sporadically afterwards. With the episodic mature, the forum will bective for about a year and then sporadically months later especially when dontnod makes a retail releasse.
