This also reallyhelps the developer because announcing a time frame for the next episode release ramps up the hype machine to insane levels. That is why the Life is Strange forum is so busy all the time because the fans all know that if they want to post a theory about the next episode they have to get it done in that 8 week time frame, otherwise everyone knows what will happen and your theory is completely and totally worthless.
Developers like Telltale, who have been very successful in the episodic genre, should take notice of what Dontnod has done here and they really should ramp up their commitment to getting their episodes out in a timely fashion like Dontnod has done or they may find themselves wishing they had.
Don't forget, they actually still working on ep. 5.
I don't think that is possible because the episodes would be too short, even less play time then LiS episodes which are short. The team needs to have at least 2 months to be able to put out something the quality that LiS has, anything less and we would not be on the forums wanting the next episode because it would be far less quality and in the garbage category.
I like what Dontnod has done in the episodic genre because this sets more of an industry standard to put out the next part of your game in a timely fashion and not the slightly less then forever fashion other developers like Telltale seem to take between episodes.
