would be nice if they released more of these games, or atleast this studio released a similiar game, loving the story thus far.

Would be especially good if we could get more of Max and Chloe, maybe even a story set a little later in their lives,

Well found it, but that's not proof though, it may just have been their original plan to release 8 episodes, then they just let it remain there ;)

Exactly. I find it rather doubtful with them clearly advertising there are only 5 episodes to then add 3 extra episodes. The story was also planned quite some time ago and a planned story isn't really something you can easily add an extra story to without the added story being a weak addition.

I also don't think another season with the same cast is a good idea. Another season would forever be compared with the one that came before it and without it, again, having been planned at the same time as the first season may end up being considered weaker than the first season which in my opinion, especially rings through with stories which have a clear beginning and end. Seriously, what could season 2 even entail with Max still in the picture? Max and Chloe set up a detective agency?

I concur. A season 2 with the same cast or stars a character from season 1 would hurt the overall series. As mentioned various times before, sequels of popular tv shows or movies that have the same cast tend to have a weak storyline.

I feel that the 3 episodes in the steam folder are just place holders that dontnod place in there in case they want to do dlcs.

Back to a sequel, Dontnod said in an interview that a season would take place in another part of the world with a new cast.

That there are going to be more episodes because a random image on Tumbler which has the words six, seven & eight in it means there are going to be. The image is just a random list, completetly lacking in context. Anyone can put together a random list in notepad and uploaded onto a site such as tumbler.

You know that these files do exist just go check the files of your game In the Steam Life is Strange folder, then search for the file name shown in the picture

Even though ppl are saying the files are real it does not mean we are getting 3 more episodes. As mentioned before, these episode files might be placeholders for dlcs in case dontnod wants to make more eps.
