I was the one who posted the original link to that French interview, and at the time even before translation you could clearly see the number "2" within his statement. He had clearly said "Life is Strange 2", but the article has since changed to only speculate a possible sequel.

To me, this is dontnod trying to cover their tracks until they feel comfortable announcing the game themselves. Watching the dev on the dev stream constantly say "on this season" was all the confirmation I needed of another season anyways.
