(Spoilers) So does Nathan live if you DON'T beat him up?

So yeah at the end of Episode 5 we find out Nathan dies by Mr.Jefferson however after rewatching the series by one of my favorite Youtubers I noticed something.

I totally forgotten Chloe takes Nathan's gun after he gets beaten up. (I picked to let him get beaten) Then if you pick to stop him from getting beaten he quickly gets up and takes his gun back. So here is where I'm thinking...does Nathan live if you stop him from getting beaten up? My thoughts were he was beaten and had nothing to defend himself when Mr.Jefferson was gonna kill him (if you pick to let him get beaten.)

Obviously Mr Jefferson had to live either way (otherwise we wouldn't have Episode 5) but would have Nathan survived if he kept his gun?

Yeah, he still dies. I didn't beat him up in my game and Jefferson still mentions having to kill him. I think the whole gun thing was just another way of giving us a chance to get the gun back. Also to make Nathan seem guiltier I guess.

Missed oppoturnity to have varied cliffhanger in the episode 4. In a sense of Chloe getting kidnapped too or shot.
