This is Twin Peaks the game
Is it just me, or is this game heavily influenced by Twin Peaks? Two Whales Diner reminds me of Double R Diner. Episode 5 surreal nightmare reminds me of The Lodge. And the scene where they speak backwards in Episode 5 is also something that was common in Twin Peaks. Peaks had many weird characters, so does this game(Kate, Nathan, Samuel, Madsen). There are even references like Fire Walk With Me written on the mirror in the bathroom. And also TWN PKS on the plate on the truck.

And Rachel Amber is basically Laura Palmer. The whole Prescott saga reminds me of Josie/Thomas Eckhardt subplot.

Of course, it's all over the game.
And just like TP, it turns to sh*t as soon as you find out who did it :P

It's also Donnie Darko the Game. And it has a couple of rather obvious references to other works of pop culture, including The Longest Journey (Arcadia Bay, Max the art school hipster writing diary in an equally awkard lingo as April Ryan the art school hipster) and The Catcher in the Rye (Caulfield, "only a complete phony would wear a hat like that").

Hey!

I found plenty of references :
- The girl who leapt through time (japaness anime) about a school girl who discover she can travel through time but things get worse as she is trying to help
- Blue is the warmest color (french movie) a love story between a rather shy girl and a blue haired rebel kind of girl
- The Butterfly effect... for obvious reasons such as ... well ... the butterfly reference, and also just replace diaries with photos as medium to time travel, but the idea is the same, travelling thanks to memories... plus the scene when the hero finds himself disabled
And others that I don't remember on the moment

EDIT: And yes DrLoboto, The longest journey also... I didn't catch the references by myself, but my thoughts while playing were... "wow! didn't feel this since the longest journey"... BTW that how gold I think LiS is, and I have played a very extensive number of games :)

Oh, I didn't catch all those license plates except for Twin Peaks, and I forgot about Another Earth. I wonder if that movie inspired the scene with the double moons ...

I remember noting those similarities between the two when Episode 1 was first released, and most people seemed to think it was too far-fetched. For me, Life is Strange feels like more of a spiritual successor to TLJ than Dreamfall did.

Twin Peaks has ruin the game. -_-
I agree with that who you say.
Laura Palmer in the red room = Rachel Amber in the dark room
LIS 5 episodes = Riley Rewind
Riley Rewind the chronomancer = Max Caulfield the chronomancer
Donnie Darko is the reason of disaster = Chloe Price is the reason of tornado
Butterfly Effect 2 photo traveling = LIS Photo Focus
La Vie d'Adèle, Emma = Chloe Price
La Vie d'Adèle, Adele = Max Caulfield
La Vie d'Adèle, Emma stepfather = David Madsen
What else?
More than TV series the game I'll say. They ruined Rachel from to make her like Laura. -_-
Still another story who have tribute character inside and ruin the story.
Oh and the devs said that: "If exist other seasons will be like True Detective with new cast and places. (Same power? No, yes?)"
Oh with other words you say that we'll eat in the face the True Detective the game in the other seasons huh?
And more references to another media etc......
And if exist DLC with Rachel guess the name:
Life Is Strange: Fire Walk with Me <-O.o
NO!!!!
After that Life Is Strange is a good game. Mmm maybe somewhere. But NOT.
So episode 5 is almost a tribute on Twin Peaks.
Thanks, you give more reasons to hate that story.
Life Is Strange concept is very good. As story is very good. (Almost) But, but not so good.

There are references to it and clearly it is an influence but Deadly Premonition is far more closely moulded after Twin Peaks.

Episode 1 does have that Venice vibe from TLJ. Any other games dontnod 'borrowed' from? Besides the Telltale games and their own Remember Me of course.

Hey, thanks for mentioning Riley Rewind, btw! I hadn't even heard of that before, but the parallels are very obvious. It even has that idea that rewinding time too much can cause a nosebleed.

Also if I could upvote here, I would.

To be fair, TP din't turn to complete sh*t, but it wasn't AS good after. You should definitely watch it, it's great overall.

I just started watching Twin Peaks again. It's amazing if you enjoy Lynch's style and humor.

Another easter egg that no one has mentioned is that Nathan's psychiatrist is Dr Jacoby. That's the creepy doctor that had sessions with Laura Palmer.
