Yeah soooo, what was the deer spirit mean? I read some places it was Rachel Amber, but that didnt convince me so much, would anybody explain me what you think about the spiritual deer? And also, in chapter 5, in Max;s nightmare, why does she turn into Victoria??? My IQ is really low I guess Lol

They never explain anything, so I choose to believe that Rachel still exists as an evil ghost seeking vengeance, and the spirit doe is how she appears when trying to send messages to Max. She wants to break down Max's will by getting her to discover the horrible things that happened to Rachel, and chip away at her psyche until it all culminates in the "nightmare world" in episode 5 and her final play (in the guise of "Other Max") to convince her to let Chloe die as the final blow that will shatter Max's mind and allow Rachel to take control and live again through her body.

Wow. I thought that the doe was Rachel, but she was sending us messages to tell us what has happened to her. But man all that jeez.

It's Max's spirit animal. The writers come right out and tell you that (through Samuel) pretty early in the story. It represents her youth, innocence, and fragility. The ghost doe acts as a spiritual guide for Max leading her to places she needs to go.

It could also represent her cowardice and always running away, depending on your choice of ending. :steamhappy:

Im confused how did the ending decide if Max was a coward or not?

She can decide that she's done running away from the consequences of her actions and trying to go back and re-do everything to make it perfect, and let the storm hit and live with whatever happens. Her other option--the coward's option--is to go back yet again to undo all the events of the week, which will no longer have happened or have any consequence except in her own memory, and allow the person who loves and trusts her more than anyone else in the world to die for something she has nothing to do with. Instead of straightening her back and fighting against the idea of "fate" until her last breath, trying every possible alternate solution she can think of, she just sits down on the floor, gives up on what she knows in her heart is right, and cries like a child.

Now that I've had time to think about it, it's maybe the greatest betrayal I've ever seen in a video game plot, both in the sense of Max betraying her bond with Chloe and betraying her own ideals and everything she's fought and struggled for up to that point. It's so horrifyingly bleak and out-of-character that it feels like it was written by someone who was given a basic outline of the story and had no idea what character they were writing for.

But Chloe even said herself that she wanted to accept her fate.

The Chloe from Friday afternoon said that. The Chloe who dies is the one from Monday morning, who has never even reconnected with Max, and dies scared and alone on the floor of a bathroom still believing that no one in the world cares about her. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heinous
