its only really been a thing for the series since Life Is Strange 2. LIS2 & True Colours support such an option but it is sadly a bit of a mixed thing. They didn't make any attempt to replace anything with copyright free music and the copyrighted music is replaced with silence. Which just makes the scenes either odd, creepy or fairly ridiculous such as the scene in True Colours which features Alex and Gabe playing air guitar to no music.
There could be an option in Before the Storm as i can't recall checking and i streamed it at a point when Twitch had less issues with DMCA. That said I streamed True Colours with the music on and had zero issues.
The remastered versions are releasing next year which might feature such support.
Best example for this was probably Life is Strange True Colours when you see dad & brother fighting and there should be a beautiful song from Dido
