Achievement Glitch (Episode 4 Spoilers)
So I got picture #3 of the chapter with the stones. It gave me the achievement and everything. But then my controller stopped working, so I left the game and reentered. I took the picture again for my photo album. Since I already had the achievement, nothing else happened there.

The problem is that after that, I took the picture #4 for the squirrels eating, and then picture #5 for the footprints outside. I *thought* I saw the achievement for picture #4 pop up, but I can't guarantee that. What I *do* know is that the achievement for picture #5 did not. I checked, and I had neither achievement, despite having both pictures in my album. I quit out and reset, taking the footprint picture again. It sitll did not register.

What in the world is going on? Am I completely screwed? I've gotten every achievement up to this point, and I'm going to be really mad if I got cheated out of picture #4 since I can't backtrack, despite doing everything right. >_<

My friend actually figured out the answer. For some bizarre reason, taking the pictures with my keyboard, rather than my controller, now gets me the achivements. It never did that before, so I guess it came from my computer powering off (low battery) and the controller needing to be reconfigured. Blah. But at least it works now. Hope this topic helps someone else if they run into this problem.

Yes, I had the same experience -- for some reason in Episode 4 (using a controller) the optional photos appeared in my Photo Journal as I took them, but none of the achievements ever popped. Seeing the above post, I re-took all the photos using mouse and keyboard in Collectable Mode... And all the achievements popped properly! Strange little bug.

Huh, so I guess I wasn't the only one. Glad to hear you were helped by the same solution!

*Jeckenn thanks the gaming gods he never uses a controller unless the game specifically requires him to...*

Some parts of the game are actually easier with a controller such as focussing on photos and a certain moment in episode 5 that needs an interaction done within a short period of time. It's all do-able with keyboard, it's just easier with a controller since you don't have to look, click and drag to your option, you just look and press one button.

I vastly prefer the controller to the keyboard in this game. It depends on the game, but with Life is Strange, the controller is a blessing.

Yeah I know that is likely true but I am an old timer gamer and mouse and keyboard have always been the way I play my games, so using a controller for me is pretty much always more difficult. So the only time I do use my wireless logitech xbox 360 controller is if I am playing something like say Ori the Blind Forest which you really do need a controller to play it right..

Yeah, it's pretty much essential to have a game pad for plat former type games these days. I learned that the hard way when I tried playing Prince of Persia Sands of Time with just a mouse and keyboard. So much unnecessary frustration which cost the life of my poor mouse.

Had the same problem (except with different achievements, photos #4 and #5 in episode 5). My controller had a temporary disconnect (maybe due to a loose contact or something) shortly before which somehow led to achievements not unlocking.

By repeating the chapter with the keyboard I got the missing achievements. So thanks a lot for the solution. Otherwise I would never have come to the idea that it had something to do with the controller disconnect.

Yeah and my mouse is way to expensive to break on a game like Ori that's for sure :)
