Were Chloe and ****** lovers? [Potential Spoilers]

Granted this is speculation, but I will be going through some plot points to discuss. (You've been warned!)

My question again is: Were Chloe and Rachel lovers?

Fairly early on Max asks Chloe if she has a crush on Rachel. And Chole admits that she does, saying that Max would too if she were ever to meet her. Now I took this at face value as a girl crush and didn't think much of it. Until...

When she discovers that Rachel was having a physical relationship with Frank, Chloe is openly repulsed and leaves the trailer enraged. Perhaps she thought Frank was beneath Rachel? Maybe she's just frustrated they haven't found better clues? Whatever the reason, her explosive reaction seems to be hinting at something more. Later on after discovering her body, Chloe goes on a warpath to stop Nathan. Can this all be attributed to just a love for a friend?

Now taking it a step further, if Chloe's feelings were more than platonic: did anything happen?

All we know is that Chloe and Rachel hung out a lot, and based on kissing Max, Chloe is open to exploring her adolescent sexuality. Whether Rachel was ever part of that is not told.

It can be argued that it was only in Chloe's head, but we never get an explicit confirmation of what their relationship was so I think it can be read either way.

What are your thoughts?

As somewhere is stated, Chloe was in love with Rachel.
Rachel actually liked Chloe, but she wasn't in love with her.

And Chloe's "in love" is more like dependency, in a ... let's say, bad form.

Its never directly stated, only inferred. Chole was in love/heavily dependant on rachel, but rachel seemed to gravitate elsewhere. One can assume, due to her relations with frank et al that she wasnt as in to chole as chole was in to her.

Chloe tried to go with boys but it didn't work. It was just for fun.
For true love she needs a girl. She's lesbian in heart.
She was in love with Rachel, but Rachel didn't love her the same way.
And then, she tries with Max. I'm sure, whatever choice you make, Chloe loves Max and would like to go further. It's the way I see it. When Max confirms to Warren that she'll go with him to the ape thing, Chloe seems jealous. And in the swimming pool, she says how good Max is in her opinion. If Max says Warren is "nice" she replies "ouch, friendzone". If Max says "you're the bro killer", she denies... And the famous kiss... OMG she didn't expected Max to do it, but at the end she was glad it happened. She even made fun of Warren by sending him a message.
For me that's so obvious. she desperatly needs a girlfriend to love. She's so frustrated, poor thing.

To me it seems they were together, but Rachel cheated on her and considered breaking up.

Yea, but the way she talks about her, calls her her "saviour" and "angel", having their secret hideout together, her anger when she finds out Rachel was with Frank.... honestly that isn't the reaction of someone who had a crush but the feelings weren't returned. She acts like someone who finds out their lover cheated on her.

Yes but we only have Choe's side of the thing.
And she never talks about her and Rachel as a couple.
That's why I think she loved her but Rachel didn't feel the same.

She says "Rachel Amber. She was my... angel. After my dad died and you moved, I felt abandoned. Rachel saved my life."

She may have been speaking literally, it could be that Chloe was contemplating suicide at that point.

But Chloe did have a crush on Rachel, but it was not mutual. Rachel was in love with Jefferson. And Rachel just used Frank for drugs.

Rachel's note to Chloe (found in the Junkyard)

"C.

You can tell how much I want you to read this letter since I've been dragging my ass to give it to you. Maybe I just want you to find it when I'm not around so we never have to talk about it. And I don't want you to hate me. Where to start?

I met somebody recently who's so different from the lame Vortex Club snobs. I know you'll have a meltdown when I tell you and think he's gross, but I swear he's wise and unconventional. Kind of scary, not in a "bad boy" way. He's just experienced some serious ♥♥♥♥. Yes, I'm kinda obssessed (sic). I won't blame you for freaking.

Maybe I know you're right and this just has to be my secret.

The guy she is talking about is Jefferson, Jefferson himself also mentions this;
"Rachel was in love with me. That's not my ego. Just look at our sessions. Not that I'll let you. Nobody loved having their picture taken more."

There was also the rumor by stella (him being Jefferson)
"You have a lot to learn here at Blackwell. Rachel Amber absolutely had sex with him. Well... I heard that from a good source."

Nathan also confirms she was just using Frank;
"So? Rachel wanted Frank's stash. She let him take pictures... Then he carries around her photo like she posed for love. Dumbass."

Yea, I know about that letter. And why would Rachel think Chloe would go mad if she hooks up with a successful photographer and teacher? They dont know about his psychopathic side yet, he's a super catch... but Chloe would be mad BECAUSE THEY ARE TOGETHER. If they were just friends Chloe would have no reason to disaprove about Rachel being with Jefferson.

She doesn't exactly say that Chloe would be mad though. She says that she would disapprove, and disapproving of her dating a teacher or older guy could be very understandable. So I definitly still think they were never 'together'.

What I find strange about all this is that when Max and Chloe first went to the campus together and ran into Jefferson (Chloe meets him for the first time), she seems very interested in him, flirting even.

There's that, but I mentioned it more for the fact that Rachel seemed to think Chloe would disapprove of Jefferson (not talking jealousy here, just wouldn't approve of the person because of being a teacher or whatever), but it turns out she was more than fine with him, at least for herself.

I even think she did it on purpose to see the reaction of Max.
