This game is VERY easy to spoil yourself on.
For the Original Life Is Strange game, you need all 5 Episodes to complete the story.
This is true for every LIS game out right now.
Before The Storm is the only game with 3 Episodes + DLC.
Life Is Strange is 5 Episodes
The Adventures of Captain Spirit is a Short Story Episode
Life Is Strange 2 is 5 Episodes
Life Is Strange True Colors is 5 Episodes + DLC.
I highly recommend playing these games in Chronological Order like listed here.
Going in with no prior knowledge of anything except what you personally experienced from your playthrough should be how you progress here. I personally feel it gives the most impact.
I desperately wanted to discuss the games but I quickly found it is the FASTEST way of being spoiled on ALL games if you do so.
We will all be here after you finished the series to discuss the game :)
Playing in "chronological" order IS major spoiler. Some things you simple shouldn't know when you playing LiS for first time.
First LiS then BtS; first LiS then Farewell. Why you never listening?
(OP do not have BtS btw and looks like he wouldn't play LiS either but still)
They should be played in release order
Farewell can easily be played as an epilogue to the original game though without playing Before The Storm first. Although considering it is DLC for Before the Storm it makes sense to play BTS before it as well.
I've spoken to many people online who played chronological order with no issues or complaints of being spoiled.
I in fact did not even play Farewell until after completing BTS and LIS 1.
None of this ruined the game for me nor did finding thing out in BTS before playing LIS.
The end credits scene actually game me more questions than answers because I knew NOTHING about LIS except for the first 5 mins of the game.
I'm just offering a different way to play the game because the shroud of darkness is no longer a factor since all game are out now.
And hundred of other details. BTS designed to be "more of this sht" game. It even don't introduce any characters as if you should know them already.
Who are those people? And no one of them didn't recommended to play in release order?
Besides, do you know about "machete order"? This is five Star Wars movies watched in order:
IV: A New Hope
V: The Empire Strikes Back
II: Attack of the Clones
III: Revenge of the Sith
VI: Return of the Jedi
and yes, completely skipping episode I: The Phantom Menace. Not in release order 4-5-6-1-2-3, not in chronological, but exactly that because this is the better way to tell this story for person, who never watched SW before.
Glad for you then. Give a try to Tell Me Why (don't buy it now, it will be free in june), another game from Dontnod. Many people online will say this is not a LiS game, but, believe me, it is and it worth.

I would generally suggest Life Is Strange should be played first as playing Before the Storm first ruins the mystery regarding Rachel and has negative points regarding Max and the other more simple reason Life Is Strange was never made with expectation of Before the Storm ever being a thing.
