Worth $20?

I just finished the first free episode, but it didn't really hook me at all and the reversing time mechanic seems like little more than just a fancy quicksave/load button.

The reviews for it on the store lead me to believe that this game is very loved, though. Does it get any more interesting later?

I liked the game right from the start and bought it as soon as I finished episode one. In my opinion the game does get better as it goes on, but since I liked it from the start I am not sure how helpful that is to you.

Is it worth $20? I would say it most certainly is.

Right after episode 1, I fell in love with the story. I thought it was worth the money, but its up to if you liked the story. I never really liked any time travel mechanics (even from this game), but I still love the story.

I'm not a rich person, but I would gladly pay $200 if there's another game comparable to Life is Strange in its quality and tone.

However, if you didn't feel anything about it until the end of the first episode, there's a good chance that it's not the kind of games which would appeal to you.

Got it on sale for $9, and I think that I basicly stole the game. Absolute bargain, for the story and characters/charater development. I would pay $20+ for this game

I picked up the first episode for free as well and enjoyed the characters and setting enough to continue the story. The mechanics are solid for this type of game and compliments the story nicely, like the 'rewind' ability which is there to help progress Maxine's progression and internal dialogue, not as some kind of nuanced ability to be skillfully mastered. You're right, it is like a fancy quicksand button and I think that was the aim of 'rewind', like have you ever saved & reloaded in an RPG to see how the outcome could change depending on how you play?

I recommend it, I feel like I got my monies worth for sure and I'm excited because it's turned me onto other adventure games like The Walking Dead and some older games aswell. On top of that, the amount of discussion players are having about the game is awesome and I'm enjoying that aswell.

So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worth it. I'll admit, I got it on sale for $10, but if I had known how good it was gonna be i'd be willing to pay $60. I got over 30 hours out of the game so I think 20 dollars for 30 hours of entertainment is pretty good. Also the time machanic becomes better and more important/interesting as the game goes on

Life is Strange is great - I'm still in the post-finish daze at the moment. But like anything, greatness is subjective.

If you didn't like Episode 1, I don't think you'll necessarily like the rest. The story gets more complex/involved from there on out, but Ep 1 was supposed to be the hook, and if it didn't do anything for you, I doubt the rest will too.

Buuuut... you could always buy the series, and then refund within two hours if you don't like it.

I brought it in the summer sale but i didn't play it until last week. It was halfway through episode 2 for me when i realised I was actually playing something very special.

Keep in mind that the first episode is the set-up for what is to come later in the game. Without spoiling anything, episode 1 has laid out the background for a mystery that will unravel in the later episodes. Even just in episode two, I found that the game suddenly went much deeper emotionally and plot-wise. And comparing the first episode to the last is almost like comparing entirely different games. There are some great twists that unfold that really make you think differently of events that play out in previous episodes.

I'd say give it a chance.

I think of it like this...

You pay 12 bucks to go to a dark room and watch a film for two hours. With popcorn, it's closer to 15-20. This game is about $20 with over 15 hours. In lieu of the popcorn, I didn't have to go anywhere to see a very long movie which I have a bit of control over. It's about 4 hours each episode. So you're getting like 10 movies for the price of 1 and a popcorn.

Personally, I found episode 1 felt awfully cliched, and had similar thoughts to you. But I had already bought the game, and kept playing it.

Episodes 2-4 completely blew that #1 out of the water and really hooked me in. The reviews are right - this is a much loved game and the game does weave an intricate story over the remaining episodes. If you don't enjoy it, worst case scenario take pride in the fact that it probably wasn't as much of a wasted purchase than a lads first box of condoms.

Worth 50$+ and i would pay for it (wait, i already did when i bought the Limited Edition to & gifted the game to).
I spent 20$+ on worst terrible things but this game should be in everyone library, even if you not into this type of games (like i was to).
