Life is strange sucks

[Throwback to depression]

"Overwhelmingly positive" Steam? Really? You mean there are fans of this hunk of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wanna-be quirky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?
Let me give you some background: I love the walking dead game. maybe on of the best games I've ever played. So I was really looking for some sort of similar story-based game where you make choices for the characters. So, one of my closest friends recommended Life is Strange, and it looked great! A Walking Dead-like game that's more down to earth? Cool!
But I was wrong. It. Is. Garbage. It is ♥♥♥♥ and I can not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stand it. Because here's the worst part: my friend won't listen to any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ criticism about it, so I have no one to vent to. So be ready for a long post because I am just going to let it all out.
So first of all, the characters are all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. Have you ever seen or read ANYTHING involving a high school? Then you've seen all these characters. All of them. Mean girl with no reason to be mean who has clique. Mean guy who has no reason to be mean who is rich. The list goes on and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on. And you can tell from the moment you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ se them what all their arcs will be. The mean girl will turn nice by the end. The mean security guy will reveal he had a hard military past. It's all so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OBVIOUS. NOTHING IN THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME IS ORIGINAL. IT'S ALL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CUT AND PASTE. OH LOOK, THIS GIRL IS GOTH, I WONDER IF HER BACKSTORY IS SHE LOVED HER FATHER, HE LEFT, AND NOW HER STEPDAD IS A ♥♥♥♥. THAT IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE MOST OVERUSED CHARACTERS IN ANYTHING EVER AND SHE IS ONE OF THE MAIN ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CHARACTERS OF THE GAME. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
On top of that the voice acting is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. So half the time these "voice actors" are just mediocre, and the other half they say there lines in ways no human being ever would, and it makes me wonder whether the voice actors suck or the director sucks. Like let me give you an example, one character says " I want to be a photographer." The next, MAIN CHARACTER VOICED BY A VOICE ACTOR WHO HAS BEEN IN MULTIPLE OTHER PROJECTS, should respond "You are a photographer." Because she is assuring the first girl that she is, in fact, a photographer. But no no no. This voice actor puts the emphasis on photographer. As in "You are a photographer." Now, if you are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ human being who has heard others talk before, you know this response makes no sense because it sounds like you're telling her she's a photographer, rather then reassuring her. I know this sounds like nitpicking but it happens IN ALMOST ANY CHARACTER INTERACTION EVER. IT TAKES ME OUT OF A GAMES WORLD WHEN THE CHARACTERS SOUND LIKE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS ARE TRYING TO VOICE ACT IT. IT PISSES ME OFF BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY SCENES OF THE GAME THAT GO FROM MEDIOCRE TO REALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ BECAUSE THE CHARACTERS DON'T SPEAK LIKE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HUMAN BEINGS.
This is all accompanied by horrible writing. There is a scene where a girl is about to kill herself and you try to convince her not to. But she ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ switches back and forth between jumping and not wanting to jump like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. "I'm gonna jump." "Don't" "Okay" "Cool." "I'M GONNA JUMP" "DON'T" "Okay." "Cool" "I'M GONNA JUMP." It's seriously one of the most awkward scenes of the whole series because the serious tone does not match the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ writing. So many parts of the game have interesting ideas behind them, but fail to be any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good because of the ♥♥♥♥ writing.
The ♥♥♥♥ writing also brings another problem: NONE OF THE CHARACTERS ARE LIKEABLE. I know I already talked about characters, but let me just bring it back for a second. The main character is a whiny wanna-be quirky ♥♥♥♥♥ who tries to be retro and is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. She is not endearing. She is not interesting. I don't care what she does and I don't care about her life. It gets to the point where I try to hear her talk as little as possible. And she's not the only one, all the characters are the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worst. Her best friend is even more awful,and I don't even know where to start on her. She's this goth punk try hard ♥♥♥♥♥ and I don't care about her in any way and I just want her to stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ existing. All the characters are the worst and they are written horribly. I actually have a story: I was talking to my friend who doesn't except any criticism about it and I actually tried to compliment it. I said "I like what they're doing with so-and-so, because you can tell that he's in love with the main character, but she doesn't love him. This makes it so it's awkward whenever he does something overly heroic for her, like get beat up for her." You wanna know his response? "Oh, but they are in love." I thought the main character didn't love HER ONLY LOVE INTEREST. WHEN YOU WRITE A CHARACTER'S RELATIONSHIP THAT BAD YOU SHOULDN'T BE WRITING CHARACTER DRIVEN DRAMAS. IF YOU WRITE CHARACTERS THIS AWFUL YOU SHOULDN'T WRITE ANYTHING UNTIL YOU LEARN HOW TO WRITE THINGS BETTER THEN A MIDDLE SCHOOLER'S FANFICTION.
Now, there are two parts to this game: the infuriating parts, and the god awful BORING PARTS. THIS GAME GETS SO BORING. DO YOU LIKE LOOKING FOR BOTTLES IN A JUNK YARD WHILE YOUR MAIN CHARACTER TRIES TO BE QUIRKY AND JUST COMES OFF ANNOYING? NO? THEN DON'T PLAY THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME. I actually cried during the second episode. Want to know why? IT. WAS. SO . BORING. Seriously, there was an interesting (I use the world loosely) plot about a girl having a horrible video of her posted on line for the first five minutes. Then you meet with your best friend in a cafe. And it gets so boring. So, so boring. First her mom tells you all about her past. Boring. Then she comes in and argues with her mom. Boring. Then guess what. Seriously, guess. YOU HAVE TO WATCH A BORING DUMB SCENE IN THE CAFE, REWIND TIME, AND TELL YOUR FRIEND ABOUT IT. OVER AND OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT. IT IS SO BORING. Then You go to a junk yard AND LOOK FOR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BOTTLES! I CAN'T MAKE THIS ♥♥♥♥ UP, THE GAME DESIGNERS THOUGHT LOOKING FOR BOTTLES WAS FUN. IT'S NOT. AT ALL. IT'S BORING! BORING! IT MADE ME WANT TO BLOW MY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BRAINS OUT IT WAS SO BORING. THEN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DO? TALK AND TALK ABOUT BORING THINGS. THEN YOU GO TOO SCHOOL AND IT'S BORING. Then this girl tries to kill her self and it would be interesting if the writing and voice acting weren't ♥♥♥♥. THEN YOU MEET IN THE OFFICE AND IT IS SO BORING. THIS GAME IS BORING. HOW CAN ANYONE LIKE THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GARBAGE. JESUS CHRIST.
Alright, before I finish this there is one good thing about the game: the decisions. Most decisions in the game are pointless and mean nothing. But some actually really made me think. Like a girl was raped but she has no evidence, should I tell her to go to the police or be blunt and tell her to look for evidence. This actually made me think. As did whether to shoot a drug dealer or not. See, it's sort of like someone wrote an outline for a really good game then gave it to the worst writers they could find as a joke. And now it's a game with an OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE SCORE ON STEAM. THIS GAME PISSES ME OFF MORE THEN ANY GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED. ♥♥♥♥ THIS GAME. ♥♥♥♥ THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥, POORLY WRITTEN, BORING ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME. ♥♥♥♥ THIS GAME.
If you like this game I implore you to tell me why in the comments. Because I have no idea how anyone can sit through this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage.

Well, to each his own. I like the Walking Dead games but i like LiS way more.
But like so much in life, personal preference.
Your main problem seems to be that you cant accept that the majority does not share your opinions? Maybe try to dont see yourself as the center of the universe. Could help.

Alright locking the thread now. I definitely don't want it to seem like we don't take criticism on board and censor bad reviews, but it looks like this thread has so far served it's purpose. If Mister Dickpuppet wants an answer to his challenge...
