Max isn't the protagonist of Life Is Strange. But the protagonist of her season in Life Is Strange. Every season will have a new cast cause is strange lifes from various people (protagonists). Life Is Strange is like a tree. Every branch is a season. We saw the 1st branch which is Max season. Her story is done. So we'll move to another branch now and see another strange life. When we'll see more seasons, new faces and new tastes we'll get the message of Life Is Strange. The big picture. At least some of us.
(Plus there is no way they could make a game, that satisfyingly picks up where Season 1 left of and takes both endings into account)
I think having a story with a similar theme (Young Adult life problems mixed with mystery and a supernatural twist), but with different characters, a different setting and maybe different super powers is the best way to make a "sequel" here. I mean: Technically it's not even a sequel, but just a new story with a similar style. That's not even that uncommon in gaming (just look at Final Fantasy).
If you don't want a Life is Strange game without Max and Chloe, then that's fine: Simply don't play "Season 2" and be happy with everything you got from "Season 1" and Before The Storm.
But as I explained above: A sequel with Max and Chloe wouldn't make much sense at all. So it's not like this new story would be the replacement for that. It's either Season 2 with new characters or no Season 2 at all. So why not just be glad, that the devs are making a second game at all? ;)
Do you believe there will be LiS3, LiS4 etc.? I have the feeling LiS2 will pretty much mark the end of the franchise. Maybe it will be like "5th Element" and "Valerian" moviewise.
I can't imagine the new characters will be as good sadly, so yea season 2 may be a flop. But they can't make a second season with Max without being it being ridiculous.
That's just not true. Why are there still people around which are convinced the devs chose one ending over the other simply because it is longer?
So even when Max or Chloe don't show off in LiS 2. The actions developed in LiS will affect somehow LiS2.
If, in the end, it is another completly different, and worst, isolated game in the same world; I'm not going to support it.
Also, didn't they say they ran out of time and had to release? So I don't blame them for focusing more on one ending.
It's perfectly fine if it makes more sense to you, but the devs did not mention they wanted the longer ending to be canon or such...
Personally, watching the longer ending, I didn't see the Max I fell in love with, just a girl without the courage to spit fate into its ugly face, no matter what.
What I like to think is that this isn't all about Max. Especially since season 2 isn't even about Max lol.
It's about chaos theory, limitless outcomes and fractals. If Max never got her powers then she would have taken Victoria's place since Mr. Jefferson is very relentless with asking you to submit a photo and enjoys your company more. Max would have never affected anyone's life and things would mostly turn out terrible. Then of course the tornado would kind of get rid of everything.
But she did get her powers, she had visions of the storm and because of her, she created more chaos and more outcomes which is what is natural in this universe. Then Chloe is no matter what, suffering or dead, or both. The many situations of her possible death and other timelines kind of show that off. I guess you can choose something that for me doesn't seem right with the game. But otherwise in the longer ending you can see conclusion and that this isn't just about Max, it's about the chaos. Also the blue butterfly which some believe to represent Chloe. Just seems like more work was put into this ending and it fits better with the story IMO.
I wanna platy the new game, and just because you think it;s silly to make aanother doesn;t mean everyone thinks that
But I do hope they keep the time travel component, mostly the rewind within scenes part. I know it won't be in BtS but I really enjoyed this element of the game and it really helped it to stand out from other story based games.
Unless someone has a new source, I would point out that they have said nothing official about the plot, characters or location for season 2 since before they started development. It is possible, although very unlikely, they will have changed their minds and intend to continue some part of the season 1 story. It seems unlikely. Very unlikely, actualy, but is still possible.
So I'm witholding any judgement until they make an officialy announcement. Athis point, I would imagine we will hear nothing about season 2 until at least September. With the prequel coming out, and DONTNOD still trying to build the hype train for Vampyr, I think they'll hold news for a while yet.
