That makes sense from a BtS point of view....but if that is true then what is the blue butterfly?
"Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life."
Also viewed as a wish granter.
It could pretty much represent anyone in LiS or the thing that actually granted Max her power.
Edit: I always associated the blue butterfly as Rachel's soul/spirit.
The doe was at Rachel's buried place and the Butterfly shows up in the bathroom where Max is standing by the time of the event.
Well they confirmed that the Doe max sees is meant to be Rachel. I'm uncertain if they stated anything regarding the butterfly.
In BtS her spirit animal is the raven, but between there and LiS, she "morphs" into the butterfly. It follows her transitions in life, the way she feels and evolves make it so her spirit animal changes over time. In BtS she's all out, rebelling against a world that abandoned her as she discovers her true self by mostly making bad decisions that makes her seen mostly as a "bad omen" roaming around everybody else.
By the time we get to LiS she got wounded even more by the loss of Rachael but lost the "fire of rebellion" that was inside her, that last stab mostly draining her and leaving her mostly with the desperate energy spent to try and find Rachael. At that point, all that's left for someone (Max) to see is the beautiful blue butterfly that wants to shine a bit now that it left the cocoon of hatred it once had for the time it has and be appreciated by kind eyes and wishes to say "Look at me! I'm l'm lovely too! And fragile and alone, please be delicate!"
I mean after all, she does forgive Max in like 5 minutes at the beggining of LiS so she's not as angry as she used to be.
I just hope I made my point clear enough, those things are kinda hard to explain :)
People with that viewpoint have never watched Watership Down then.
I... actually never saw that movie lol
Oh man.... Watch it, you'll never listen to 'Bright Eyes' by Art Garfunkel the same way again!
