Edit: Sound interesting and I really like the soundtrack. I think I have to get used to this "Chibi-kinda" art style, but I guess if the story/gameplay is interesting, I don't think that'd be much of a problem.

CONSORTIUM. It's the closest to LiS you'll ever play. And it's great, too.
Also the sequel comes out somewhat soon, which continues the story, letting you upload save from the first game, letting you roll with consequences of your choices from the first game.
on topic: if you don't mind playing walking simulators, you should play "Blackwood Crossing" and "Gone Home" ! oh and the less you know about those 2 games, the better your first playthrough will be.
Because if so, that might be the problem.
Other than that, plenty of games seem to have issues with "overlay" and recording software, like:
- Overwolf
- OBS
- Nvidia Shadowplay
- I think one time I even read about Fraps causing issues
Eventually if it's Windows 10, you might need to install older DirectX content. Not game's fault.
It's really strange. Very few people had problems like that (mainly laptop Intel HD users).
Story is really good (I don't say that lightly) and it plays exactly like Life is Strange. Three different endings depending on your choices. It's a bit more adult themed though. Metacritic gave it an 85%, but most other review sites gave it a 60%~. I enjoyed it though. For $10 it's worth the money, I think.

but my brother/girlfriend have got "real" computers. dunno bout the setup though.
yeah I know, I've refunded tons of games, but I didn't want to refund Consortium, bc all the reviews were saying that the story is so damn good and I love games which are heavy on the story aspect.
