Is the power explained?
So I'm near the end of Episode 3 and I'm liking it so far but I'm just wondering... do Max's time travel powers ever get explained? I'd like it to be as spoiler-free as possible, so a simple yes or no is fine. I remember Chloe's thing about chaos theory earlier but if that's their explanation, that's a huge disappointment to me. Still a great game though.

edit: guys, this thread is a year old. please stop. it's basically either unexplained, gifted by Rachel, or by the butterfly

Kind of, but a fair amount of how it works is left up to player interpretation. Also, you haven't seen the focus power yet, which adds another layer of complexity.

In my opinion, no, it's not explained, it's only discussed.

I think its related to that deer(Probably Rachel) who wanted us to find her and give her justice

No, I discovered the focus as well, but I dunno.. I expected some more sort of explanation than "the universe made me a hero" or whatever.

That explanation is incorrect. Not saying anything more.

No, not really. The developers specifically left it unexplained on purpose. After you finish the game, watch the directors commentary videos, and they go into the why a bit.

OMG, I completely forgot to watch this...

Fandom wiki says that it was Rachel who guided Max throughout the game

Yeah, but anyone can edit those things, so take it with a grain of salt.

Well the Tobanga totem pole outside the dorm is referred to several times in the game as an object of power, so I thought the powers came from the totem pole.

Basically it is left up to your own imagination where the powers come from and rightly so because if and when Dontnod decides to continue this series if they had already explained in detail where the powers come from it would make the sequel not as good because that part MUST remain a mystery always for the story to work....

The folks from Dontnod did confirm that the ghostly doe Max see's in the game is indeed Rachel...

Rachel is definitly a guide, at least up until halfway through episode 4, but she is not the source of Max's power. All references in the game to it basically say "we'll never know where it came from", which is just fine. It's not the important part really.

That entirely depends on the source of the powers. If an explanation in season one were insular and self-contained it would be irrelevant in regards to a second season. Each season really should be self-contained LIS isn't a series which would benefit from being part of a wider mythos.

There is no explanation. Chloe explain how things works in life is strange = because it did.

Actually, that makes sense, anyone played the first Chapter of Captain Spirit by now?
