And I think the blue butterfly is Chloe's spirit animal, too.
The butterfly is WILLIAM.
Unless someone can be in two places at once, The butterfly is NOT Chloe.
The butterfly and Chloe are in the bathroom at the same time.
Here's my theroy (One of many I have had)
William (aka the butterfly) Knows whats going to happen to Chloe, so goes into the bathroom and gives Max the power over time.
When tearing up the picture at the end (Sacrifice the Bay) Max is in effect returning the power, she's done what she set out to do.
In the sacrifice Chloe ending, William (the butterfly) is there to guide Chloe onwards, and let Max know he understands why she's done what she did.
It certinaly solves the whole two places at once dilemma, Oh and Chloe having the buttrfly tattoo so makes sense this way, she was really close with her father.
Yes there were so many theories when the game was still in production and all we had to go on was the episode(s) that were already released. This is one of my favorite theories, that William is the butterfly.
It actually makes a lot of sense if we examine it, there was also that poster with the blue butterfly in Chloe's room in the alternate timeline where William was still alive and Chloe was dying as a quadrapilegic in a wheelchair.
I had to sacrifice Arcadia Bay at the end because I could remember talking to William in that timeline, while he was going over the bills that were causing him and Joyce to go broke caring from Chloe, and I promised him that I would always be there for Chloe, no matter what. So when the choice came at the end I HAD to save Chloe because I could remember talking to her father and making that promise.[/s[poiler]
As to the relationship between Chloe and the actual butterfly, I think that is more complex. My personal theory ... (note spoilers for the end game below)
In the sacrifice Chloe ending, I like to think of the butterfly as Chloe's spirit that travels back in time from the coffin scene directly to the the bathroom scene. It then grants Max her powers, not so that she can ultimately save Chloe, but so that she can get a temporary delay in Chloe's fate. A delay that gives the two girls enough time to have a reunion, have one last adventure together, and get a final resolution to their relationship that's been on hold for five years.
Viewed in that context, sacrificing Chloe is only returning us to the "real" timeline, but instead of the two of them never seeing each other alive again, they get this week together. Makes it (a little) less sad.
Yeah, but it sounded a bit trumped and weird. Well, she just probably loved butterflies, but then why she did not said this? And she just gave a camera to her? Just like that?
I don't think she could saw the butterfly there, she wasn't looking to that way.... Probably...
And exchanging gifts at a reunion is not all that uncommon. Also, you can see the butterfly photo in Chloe's wallet a couple of times next to Rachaels photo. She's clearly keeping it because it reminds her of Max. (Heck, Max's face is in the photo, so it's actually a picture of Max and the butterfly.)
But, yeah, the butterfly is also Chloe's spirit animal. So she also just likes them.
Sounds correct, thanks :D
Probably, but it wouldn't make any sense.
The director said that the ghost deer is Rachel's spirit. But it is ghost because Rachel is dead, and William is dead too. Than why the butterfly is not a ghost? It can be seen on the photo that Max shot, but the deer is not (in episode 2 you could make a photo of the deer but the animal is invisible in the journal's photo).
