That would be a different Chloe and her taste in music doesn't neccesarily reflect that of the other Chloe.
Alternate Chloe really has no reason to be rebellious, and she doesn't exactly have the capability either.
Alternate Chloe just wanted to die.
As for the original music, I love guitars and wish like hell that I could play one, so that part of the soundtrack was quite fine.
Max is an indie fan all the way, clearly evident by how she acts, and the fact she practices guitar. Chloe is a hardcore Punk fan, but she isnt allowed to listen to it at home, because David despises the music. We never see Chloe alone, only alongside Max, where she'd much rather chat with her then listen to music. Chloe listens to the sweet song in her bedroom because Rachel liked it. it's the song that represents her.
I pay WAY too much attention to the little details....
Nothing however as others have said Heavy Metal would not fit the mood of a game like Life is Strange and Dontnod would not have won the multitude of awards that they won if they had chosen Heavy Metal tracks for the game.
I am also not a fan of Heavy Metal, I love Rock and roll, Blues, and Life is Strange turned me on to Indie Rock/Pop and now I love it too. I also play the guitar and have been the lead guitar in a few Rock bands earlier in my life, I still play for enjoyment but I no longer play in any bands.
While Piano Fire doesn't seem to be the type of music to go mosh driving, it works for Chloe as she clearly a rocker chick.
As for Max, she is a bit of an odd duck who follows the beat of her own drummer, so her taste in indie music is quite logical and natural to her character.
