Meanwhile, the Slender Man is not simply confined to video games; as you may be aware of, he has been stalking and/or has already taken the creators of several hundred vlogs and several thousand blogs, a lot of which were around before the games. Take Marble Hornets, for instance, or its successor Tribe Twelve.
And Slender: The Arrival has pretty good graphics; there exists several creatures other then the Slender Man in it, all of which make minor amounts of noise and can appear out of thin air. And Slender Man himself can pop in, right in front of you, at any time at all. and did I mention this thing has support for the first version of the Oculus Rift, the world's most famous virtual reality headset?
If you're in it for scares, the Slender Man Mythos and the games it produced will likely be better for you. If you're in it for story and subtlety, generally the Slender Man Mythos can also outdo FNaF there. But they're vastly different in how they go along it; the Slender Man can be anywhere - even standing right behind you as you read this, watching you - while Freddy and the gang are bound to a single restaurant, making the scope significantly smaller for FNaF.
Slender Man shows up in the background a lot. The animatronics of FNaF look creepy as hell and are generally disturbing, in a significantly different way from Tall, Thin and Faceless.
So it's really up to your tastes. Me? Slender Man stopped being scary a while ago. Freddy and the gang... got old much faster, but I still can't bring myself to play either of the games, so it would seem they're scarier.
Though I recommend being into both, not just one or the other, as a side note, if this'll affect how you take the two.
As a finishing little note: this was supposed to be a short post. Oh well.
Fredbears Diner -> Old location -> FNAF 2 -> FNAF
its a huge mysterious story that keeps players who normally dont care and just play the game, researching and searching for answers they may never get.
