FNAF vs. Slender
So I just bought FNAF, but am waiting to play it until my brothers get home, so they can watch. Thing is, my younger brother claims that it isn't as scary as Slender (I showed him some Youtube videos of FNAF). We then got into an argument about which game (or game series, for that matter) is scarier. Here's my argument:

In Slender, it's rarely an unexpected jump-scare. You see the static as he approaches, so you know it's coming. My brother says that's the best part about Slender. The thing is, FNAF has the anxiety and anticipation that Slender does, in addition to unexpected jump-scares. For example, if you run out of power at 4AM, you see Freddy with his face flashing, and you hear the creepy music box playing, and know you're going to die. On the flipside, you can be checking the security cameras, and all of the sudden one of the animatronics pops up and kills you out of nowhere.

Anyways, point of this topic was to ask you guys which game/series you think is scarier, FNAF or Slender?

P.S. - I've seen many people online claiming Slender is scarier, but I just don't see how that's possible, with the points I mentioned, plus the fact that Slender (The Eight Pages, the only one my brother has played) has pretty crappy graphics.

Five Nights at Freddy's is scarier, initially. Especially with headphones - those screeches are loud and painful to listen to, and the full version is downright horrifying both in implications and how it actually sounds - and with a mind that appreciates subtlety. By the time, say, you've completed the first five nights and begun the extra nights, it'll have lost some of its impact. Most people are here either for the story, to roleplay, both, or because they simply like the game.

Meanwhile, the Slender Man is not simply confined to video games; as you may be aware of, he has been stalking and/or has already taken the creators of several hundred vlogs and several thousand blogs, a lot of which were around before the games. Take Marble Hornets, for instance, or its successor Tribe Twelve.

And Slender: The Arrival has pretty good graphics; there exists several creatures other then the Slender Man in it, all of which make minor amounts of noise and can appear out of thin air. And Slender Man himself can pop in, right in front of you, at any time at all. and did I mention this thing has support for the first version of the Oculus Rift, the world's most famous virtual reality headset?

If you're in it for scares, the Slender Man Mythos and the games it produced will likely be better for you. If you're in it for story and subtlety, generally the Slender Man Mythos can also outdo FNaF there. But they're vastly different in how they go along it; the Slender Man can be anywhere - even standing right behind you as you read this, watching you - while Freddy and the gang are bound to a single restaurant, making the scope significantly smaller for FNaF.

Slender Man shows up in the background a lot. The animatronics of FNaF look creepy as hell and are generally disturbing, in a significantly different way from Tall, Thin and Faceless.

So it's really up to your tastes. Me? Slender Man stopped being scary a while ago. Freddy and the gang... got old much faster, but I still can't bring myself to play either of the games, so it would seem they're scarier.

Though I recommend being into both, not just one or the other, as a side note, if this'll affect how you take the two.

As a finishing little note: this was supposed to be a short post. Oh well.

slender isnt scary at all. If you see him and you arent expecting it itll make you jump. but the only way to die is to stare at him long enough and staring at him is kind of a way to know your going to die? And when Slender killes you he just stares at you FNAF on the other hand when they appear when you dont expect it they shake scream in your face and still getting closer. And in FNAF 2 they leap at you and they have a scarier scream!! So all in all FNAF is scarier. It doesnt get scary once you become a beast at it and have a ton of experience. But Slender is only scary for three year olds that never met a tall or pale man before. Even if its the first time.

Well, I don't think Slender has a very good and scary backstory. I played that game myself, all I really saw was a white, thin, tall, and faceless Killer. FNAF on the other hand, GOES IN TO THE BACKSTORY! People were making theories of the 5 Missing Children incident in like, 1972 or whatever, it just makes the game, more Scary because of the backstory. My answer is there for you, FNAF!

Ripped Up Bonnie I agree with u completely. FNAF has a mysterious murderous and skin crawling story while Slender is just a story about a hated teenager who was used in an expiriment and became Slender. FNAF is a story about multiple child murders all done by an unkown person who presumably was arrested but obvioulsy they were wrong. The whole story goes through 4 different buildings!
Fredbears Diner -> Old location -> FNAF 2 -> FNAF
its a huge mysterious story that keeps players who normally dont care and just play the game, researching and searching for answers they may never get.
