Well, there is, apparently, a few ways to go in and look at the files and extract them, but modding is another matter completely.
game devolopers never respond to fans
You clearly haven't been on the Slender: The Arrival boards or the Faceless boards. Though true that Scott rarely ever responds, he does every now and then, and indie developers are very different from corporations.
Notch and _Jeb used to respond to questions and suggestions, though Microsoft, obviously, won't.
Well, who knows? Microsoft bought Mojang, but that doesn't mean the people who'll stay to work at Mojang won't respond.
Unless I'm behind the times, Microsoft only bought Minecraft.
"Yes, the deal is real. Mojang is being bought by Microsoft."
"What about the Mojang staff? What’s happening to you guys?
Though it’s too early to confirm which of us will continue working on Minecraft or other projects, we predict that the vast majority (if not all) Mojangstas will continue to work at Mojang for the time being.
The founders: Notch, Carl, and Jakob are leaving. We don’t know what they’re planning. It won’t be Minecraft-related but it will probably be cool."
