Five Nights at Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy's

Why do people think this game is scary?
It doesn't make much sense, and the only horror is a bunch of jump scares. I don't see how this is "omg dis gaem is da top spook of all tiemz!!!11!!!1!"

Because people are entitled to their own opinions.
If they think it's the most horrifying thing ever, then let them think that.
If you don't think it's scary at all, then that's also fine.

Apologies for my confusion.
Well I think there's a myriad of reasons, but I'll try to focus on only a few.

People say it's eerie how something so cute... Turns into something so dark and disgusting during the night. (I say disgusting because they have rotting corpses inside of them).

You don't move to the horror, the horror hunts you down, and the only thing you can do to keep it out is to use your glitchy camera tablet, your door lights and your doors, which all run on the same limited power source.

And it only takes one slip of the mind and/or cursor to let one of them into your office and end your life.

While I understand how frightening that can be, I just don't see how some people constitute that as a scarier game than say, Amnesia, which gives you a sense of being stalked and not knowing what can be around the next corner, and not being able to comprehend what you're up against.

Well if people want to think that, then just let them, because I don't think I can really explain to you completely why someone thinks something is scarier than something else.
I'm not exactly the best speechman.

Im not trying to change people's minds, Im trying to find out why they think that this is the scariest game, not trying to force my opinion

I know that, I'm just saying that maybe it's something that can't really be answered easily.

Ok, I'll try again to come up with a better explaination.

I think that maybe a lot of players see it as something new, and they're not exactly used to it.
I know, there are A LOT of point and click horror games.
But most of them are kind of slow moving, or things ONLY happen if you click somewhere.
Where with FNAF, it happens no matter what you do.
The only thing to defend yourself are flimsy doors, lights, and a camera tablet that all rely on the same limited power source.
This is all I could come up with, I am sorry.

But the game doesn't make much sense to me, if they stuff anyone not in an animatronic suit in one, why is there an exo skeleton in one of the rooms and noone does anything about it, and why do they have to scream when they do it?

Well, it's believed that an endo skeleton is MEANT to be back in the supply closet, so it isn't out of place for them.
But Scott confirmed that they aren't programmed to get up during the night, and that the pizzaria is in fact "haunted".
It is believed by many fans that they are possessed by the spirits of 5 children who were murdered, and had their corpses stuffed inside of the suits.
It's believed the animatrons are specifically targeting you because they want to act out what happened to them on other people, as a form of revenge or simply showing other people their pain.
And what better person to do it too than the new security officer?

Read the theories about that.
spoiler]They are possessed by children's souls.[/spoiler]

Well it's confirmed the pizzaria is in fact haunted, but it's not officially stated what it and the animatrons are haunted by.
Yes, it is very likely it is the 5 children, but it's still not confirmed.
So if your job is not to make sure the animatronics don't go berserk then why not have some form of a weapon, taser, or alarm incase of intruder? And why is the pay so low? How is the place still open with the scandals and rumours associated with it?

Well the company is cheap, meaning they probably don't want to impliment some kind of alarm system.
The closest they have are flimsy doors that operate on a limited power source thanks to their power budget cause of lack of funds.
And a taser really wouldn't do much against them in my opinion.
Well, I guess it COULD damage their electronics, but if they are possessed, then I don't think electronic damage would stop them, they would likely keep coming.
Also, a weapon, including a taser, could cause damage to them.
Damage requires repairs, repairs require a repair man and money, and the company lacks money.

It's also believed the protaganist, Mike Schmidt, actually secretly enjoys being chased by them, giving him some kind of thrill.
And maybe he doesn't want to spoil it by damaging them.
However, this, like many theories, is unconfirmed.

But if this place is so popular as we are led to believe, why does the company have such a low budget?
