why do we love them so much?

they are haunted robots wearing fur suits, trying to stuff us in a suit like theirs, killing us in the process, yet, they're so adorable, I don't know why i like the animatronics so much, do you have any explanations on how we love these guys so much?

What makes these characters so appealing to people is that:

1. They are actual characters with distinct behaviors and traits, though with those behaviors and traits directed to killing you, but it does make them unique at least, vs a throwaway enemy like the generic zombie or something.

2. They were made enemies based on a crime against 5 children, which kinda puts you into the whole wishful thinking phase that maybe they aren't all that terrible, but are tormented to the point of attacking you. That's assuming the lore truly goes that way though, the whole phone guy thing, mysterious news clippings that appear on the walls, and the reveresed phone message all kinda send mixed signals.

3. They are different than most enemies. Most are obviously dark and evil, but these are singing animatronics that are intended for kids that have been quite corrupted, making the love/fear factor to them quite great.

4. They scare the crap outta you, that will probably make you remember them better, and have them stand out as "interesting" at least.

5. Kinda jabbing at #2 but they are mysterious and not fully understood, making them "interesting".

6. They are animals, animals just pique a certain interest for some reason, would be different if they were just robots, humanoid robots, or alien robots.

7. Unique style, the art sytle that they are made with is well done, making them very creepy. You can even tell how creepy they are vs the gmod 3d styling that other people have made. Even the fanart has a hard time achieving that same styling.

8. Just cuz (universal reason for everything)

They have round personalities and complex motivations that leave to complex intrugie dispite little content. For example foxy is all alone with a busted mouth and torn suit. He is excluded by his friends and he is persecuted for not being in a suite so he wants to kill you but also he is a victom of bullying from his fellow robots. The Bonnie and chica relationship implies a deep ruited affection that can wether any hardships you me throw at them. Lastly Freddy who is patient and understanding of you. He knows what you are doing, he knows your not a robot outside of his suit and he will still shove you into a suit or shove a robot into you if you try and be a wise guy and play plossem. Also they seem to be on good terms with your adviser the phone guy and gave him some time to live and give you tips on how the game is played before they all decided to give him a celebration for his resignation and murder him.
