Freeze / Crash to black screen on launch?
When I launch Five Nights at Freddy's, my screen turns solid black, and the computer stops responding entirely.
I have waited several minutes at this black screen, but nothing changes.
I then have to reset the whole computer to get back to windows.

Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated. :)

I do have the same problem and haven't found anything yet...

Update:
If I run the game in a sandbox it seems to work.
I'm using Comodo Sandbox, which is a part of Comodo Firewall.
It's very possible that Comodo Firewall itself is contributing to the problem. Not sure.

(Sorry to hear that Zeknafein. With luck the above might help out.)

I'll give it a shot thanx for the reply and the help!
I think it's a matter of your color scheme like I use win 7 pro and it has to change to windows 7 basic because of it (the game) using an older graphic used for games. Just saying as a referance just trying to help.

Update:
Okay, I've also managed to get it running by:
disabling my firewall, (disabling internet first), and
running the executable directly, by right clicking it an choosing "Run as administrator".

I also closed a bunch of stuff in the system tray (icons at far-right of taskbar), just to be safe, but I'm not sure if that was necessary.

I did not need to run it in a sandbox this time, and it seems to run just fine under the above conditions.

As an aside, I've heard a lot of people reporting that the "Adobe Creative Cloud" process conflicts with the game, and ending the process resolved the crashing in most of those cases. A few other programs that run in the system tray have the same effect.

I don't have Adobe Creative Cloud, or any of the other system tray programs I saw mentioned. So those specific programs were not the problem in my case. However, the link between crashes and system tray stuff does seem to be a tenuous pattern, and that is why I closed as much system tray stuff as I could, to be on the safe side.

I've also heard that setting the Windows color mode to an older compatibility setting can help, but I did not have to do this in my case.

My monitor has changed since my first post. It is now 2560x1440 (16:9) at 144Htz. Before trying the solution I described above, I tried just updating my graphics drivers, but when I ran it from Steam I got the black screen crash that requires a reboot, so my now different resolution and refresh rate don't seem to affect the playability of the game, at least not in my case. I suspect that my above solution would have worked on my old monitor as well.

I'll try a few other methods of running it and post back here with my findings. But for now, it works without being sandboxed, so I can save progress, and that's good enough for me. :)

Thus I've finally played a bit of FNAF, and ... the pirate really has it in for me. :[

Anyway, hope this info helps someone out. :)
