The game is like you said, you constantly have to be closing doors and camera's and lights don't hinder any animatronic progress except for one.
The camera is used to hinder the one animatronic that actually has animations.
The game is a nice strategy game because you have to think about how you are going to spend your power wisely. You constantly have to check the lights, open/close the doors, check the camera to hinder the one animatronic, and make sure the power doesn't go out. If it goes out, the main one kills you, but you have a chance of surviving if your time was close to 6am (like 5am, I've never won like that on 4am)
The game isn't bad, but it suffers alot of flaws.
One of them is being hard as hell when you get to night 4.
I beat 1-5 and then I had to use a cheatcode to pass night 6 because it got too hard and tedious. The game has 7 nights and the seventh night allows you to set the A.I. for the animatronics so you can have 0/0/0/0 (easiest difficulty) or 20/20/20/20 hardest difficulty.
Sound design is great, but it can be glitchy at times. What I mean by that is there is certain sounds the game has to let you know the status of animatronics without flipping up your cams.
For example, small footsteps walking down the hall next to one of your doors could mean there is an animatronic in the doorway. Crashing/Music sounds in the kitchen mean that Chica or Freddy could be in the kitchen (If it's Crashing sounds, it's Chica. If it's Music, it's Freddy.)
The jumpscares are quick and to the point and don't drag on. They are scary the first time rolls around and I like the sound the animatronics make before they kill you. That heavy breathing sound effect is earraping, but it's a pretty cool sound.
The jumpscares, unfortunately, never become scary again, but they do become startling if you didn't check your doorway before you put your cam up and then you put it back down.
I would avoid all costs with the fandom of this game if you are interested. Most are 8-12 year olds that don't know how to spell worth for crap. Stick with SFM and GMOD machinimas if you wish as I do, but don't talk to anyone else.
I also would watch out for the porn that this game spawned, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sick and atrocious.
All in all, the game isn't bad, but it's up to you on whether or not you want to get it. Like I said, only get it at a summer sale or something.
THIS is what we need in discussions.
DISCUSSING.
I mean, he wanted to know if there was any reason on why he should get this game, so I let him know the pro's and the con's so that way he could have his own decision on whether or not he should get the game.
It's not a bad game. Especially since one person had made this game, it's kind of impressive, but there are things that could be improved and fixed if need be.
The gameplay is initially frightening, and it can still be interesting to, from time to time, try and find the easter-eggs you missed when you were just playing it normally, but for the most part, it's the story.
And that said, five bucks isn't too much; the other two games, and most likely the final game, would be best saved for a sale, though nine dollars isn't exactly an absurd price, so you can get it now if you want.
As a side note, the fandom, though often truly atrocious, produces some absolutely spectacular music (Aviators's Jaws with its badass guitar riff, or MandoPony's Survive the Night with its surprisingly creepy piano, as examples) so if you're into that... yeah.
Agreed, however, the story does not display stuff like Fredbear's Family DIner or even display The Purple Man until the 2nd game. Only part of the story that's displayed is the bite of 87, but even then I don't think it gives much detail rather than the bite victim survived. Not trying to put you down, but I was just making sure that the OP does know he has to buy 2 if he wants more of the story, rather than the 1st one (which still has decent gameplay mind you, but the story isn't as prominent.)
The 2nd and 3rd game I forgot to mention, has minigames in it and with some detailed thinking, you can pretty much understand the story through the minigames 8-bit graphics it displays.
The prices for the games, I will say, are not that bad compared to a 60 dollar new game, but I feel like FNaF 1 should be 2.99, FNaF 2 should be 4.99, and FNaF 3 should be 6.99 or the price as it is now instead of FNaF 2 and FNaF 3 being the same price.
The music, I will agree, is good too if you like that.
The gameplay is boring and devoid of any sort of tension or fear whatsoever. In fact, this game isn't even scary. It's startling. Unfortunately, it falls prey to the cheap "horror" model of constant jumpscares with a really loud screech.
However, The lore is what holds this game up. The characters and story are actually quite interesting. The characters and story are why I think this game is so popular. I would've loved to experience both in a better game.
Interesting and original concept; poor execution.
I once posted about maybe this game has the potential to being remade WITH highly trained staff.
Granted, while lots of people don't like the game. It has lots of potential to being great, the problem is... Only one person worked on this entire game with the clickteam fusion engine.
Imagine 4 or more people (including Scott) working on a remake for this game in an engine like Unreal. I don't know about you, but I think that would be pretty cool.
Scott did a great job making the models, the frames, the lighting, and everything, but imagine if he had a team to work with. Gameplay would probably be improved vastly, along with everything else.
Wow, that was fast XD
I remember when Scott said this game wouldn't be released until October.
Anyway, the reviews are looking very good for the game, but Idk. I will have to wait until the Markimoo makes a video on it.
Yeah, that's pretty good that Scott finally added some sort of mobility, but it kind of looks like an illusion. Like you are still looking into a camera, just without the camera overlay if you know what I mean...
I'm guessing he brought up the story because a big reason to keep playing a game is to find out what happens.
Indeed. And like I said I'm not trying to put him down. I was just letting you know so that way if you like story-based games the story doesn't get big until the 2nd game. 1st game is mostly gameplay and 2nd game is the same gameplay, but with added story.
