Anything that may help with this problem would be amazing!

Btw, I dont get any error messages, or any sign that could tell me what is causing it to not work.
I've got the same problem... I've tried everything from running compatibility mode, to changing my screen's resolution, to uninstalling and reinstalling the game.. this is so frustrating..... I've had this same problem with 4 of my other Nancy Drew games.... Steam doesn't even try helping us.... If you want to buy ND games, buy them directly from HerInteractive.... at least they'll help you

I was having trouble launching games 16-20 for years and finally figured it out.

Go to Documents and locate the folder for the game you want to work. Click on the folder and there should be configuration settings for that game.

Click on the configuration settings and find the game window (it will have different names depending on the game), and change the number from 0 to 2.

Exit and save the settings, and the game should now work.

Just adding to some of the posts we read while trying to get our game to start, in case it helps someone else. Because we got it to work using the above but not until doing some other things...

We had tried changing the 0 to a 2 without success but after contacting Steam and trying some of their suggestions, such as disabling/removing the firewall/antivirus/ftp (ours was filezilla), etc, we tried changing 0 to 2 again and it worked for Phantom of Venice and Ransom of the Seven Ships.

If I can, I will attach the link to the things Steam suggested...

Here's the issue I ran into that might help someone out: I have an external drive I keep all my games on. Newer Nancy Drew games did fine while being installed on another drive, but older games would either open and crash right away or just not open. After some searching and trying all kinds of things like running as administrator, checking file integrity, and trying to change compatibility mode in properties, I decided to install this game on my C drive, specifically in Program Files(x86), and the older ND games worked just fine this way! I guess older games only do well and behave as they should in x86. Try that, and it might just do the trick :)

Hello, in the file which 0 do you change to 2? All of them??

Wow, I'm shocked that worked! It was like solving a Nancy Drew puzzle to play the Nancy Drew game... But this IS what the smart people play.
