What is Thunderflux working on? Hotwire Edition!
Now that the Hotwire Update is live, here's what I'm looking at adding for hacking, in no particular order or guaruntee :
  • Update appropriate exsisting faction events & rewards to include hacking
  • Update exsisting events to hook into the wire
  • Additional ways to get into the network outside of datajacks
  • Unqiue rare enemies for hacking
  • Additional hacking programs / unique utilities
  • Hacking achievements
  • Integration into story missions
  • Hacking boss systems

Have an idea for something related to hacking that you'd like to see? Let me know in the comments below!

Seriously, it might be just how I built him, but my Hacker MC is a joke compared to the rest of the team. I only keep him around for getting past Security and half the time he botches even that and I am not sure why. So far he's L12 and has all of his points in rootkit (I just don't understand why he botches so much, does he need a different skill tree?).
I consider my Hacker the most useful character, due to having very reliable damage and support. IMO Rootkit is the weakest skill tree, and Optimization is the best (manipulating the turn order directly is a sure thing, not reliant on waiting for stuns for stuff to happen). However, the strongest virus is Mindmelt combined with Shareware, which is in the Malware tree. So my Hacker has max Mindmelt and Shareware with all other points in Optimization.

I have not encountered the problems people are mentioning regarding decking; upgrading the deck was pretty easy - I bruteforced in the beginning to increase my hardening points as a priority, followed by masking.

This made me incredibly tanky but combats took forvever. I'm now lowering hardening points to increase the deck's power - one mod that added 60 power bascially doubled my damage so combats are a little shorter now.

Programs are expensive, so you ahve to be careful there.

Maybe i got lucky in the beginning by getting offered thud in the store - that thing was a workhorse for a long time.
