How do you defeat overseer?
I've reached a point where I really don't know how to procede. Overseer keeps killing my party. At the moment I'm level 21, I have a Void Psyker, Soldier, Prototype & Hacker, and mostly up to date equipment.

Overseer has an attack called Hulking Smash that is able to take down my party from near full HP to sub 100 HP in one go, and stuns the entire party. Before anyone is able to act again at least 2 party members will be down from the small bots on the side attacking. This has happened repeatedly, that Hulking Smash ability is just oblitterating my party, and with the insane amount of HP Overseer has, it's bound to do it over the course of the fight.

Is there any secret to taking down this boss? Its HP pool does indicate that I should have done something to weaken him beforehand. Is there any obvious trick to this that I'm missing? In my first fight I was able to take down one of the side bots before it did its hulking smash, in the second fight it used hulking smash more or less right away, third fight I was able to beat down one of the side bots to 1/3 hp before it did hulking smash.

force psyker/the crystal element the one power that obsorbs damage is one way to survive and yeah it really is a hard boss to get around that hit unless it misses.
or use powers that party regen. save up dem max powers before hand.

I don't have a force psyker in my party, just a void one :( And while I do have some skills that builds up, they won't be nearly enough to get through that massive HP pool.

If I'm stuck here because I've got the "wrong" party, I think I'll just drop the game. It's a shame, I liked it (even if there were some really damage spongey enemies, which were not very fun to fight).
Yeah some of the enemies they have are clearly over powered in defense and attack. You find this out during that level. so annyoing.

It makes me sad that the enemies don't feel that well balanced. The game had so much going for it, but I don't have the patience for this :( I watched a youtube video to see if there were any tricks to it, and the video was over 20min long, and the person who made the video was speeding things up considerably.

You could try speccing the hacker as optimization, IIRC there are a few fights before this one on the mission so you can charge up the ultimate skill and use it as a recovery tool after the high damage. I believe the soldier has a skill that can redirect the damage to it with significant reductions. Your group potentially has some nice debuffs and CC that could be used to slow down how often it gets to act and how effective the attacks are.

I never had a fight that I felt was unwinnable barring going into them massively underleveled. Revaluating My parties skills/equipment from time to time generally leads to much better performance. If your struggling try mixing it up.

Here, i've made a Starcrawlers pro gameplay video for you guys. Featuring my lvl41+ party on VERY HARD difficulty (lvl44 mobs) with almost the same character composition like the crushed and helpless author of this thread. The video description explains how i played to have it so easy.
I think that i've killed The Overseer within a few rounds if not just 1-2. Can't even remember this boss :)
