I'm clearly an idiot (catalyzer puzzle The black box level)
I have been trying for 2 hours and cannot make any sense of this puzzle. There is no answer anywhere in the level other than what you are supposed to do via the log tablet unless I missed it and I'm sick of trying to figure it out trial and error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Loving this game up to this point but this puzzle is infuriating me!

It's the second mission after you go down the elevator.

I think you need to get them all to light up green, then press the button at the back. It took me far longer than I normally need for puzzles of this type.

Press each switch, observe/record what changes, and reset. A switch may push one side up by 2, and another down by 1 etc; though I'm fairly sure that if something becomes 4 or 5 (highest setting) it becomes broken. The idea is to get each one in position 3 I believe. It's been a while since i did it though.

Yeah for some reason this particular puzzle is just a nightmare, I think because you can't see what they are doing so you have to waste so much time walking around and around over and over to try to figure out what is going on.

Nightmare confirmed >_<

EDIT OMG and now after alt-tabbing into the game I try one more time and I did it! :D

hehe, have fun with the rest of the game, because it is NOT the only nightmare puzzle in there! :steamhappy:

my best tip is the following,

the one in the back, if you press the button it goes up 2. If you press the one in front of the door it goes up 1, if you press the one on the right it goes down 1(or the other way around) thats the key to the puzzle. Just make sure you get all 3 but the ones in the back green, and at that time it must be in the lowest position so when you push the back button it goes up 2 spots into the green. It's not a straight solution, but it's more or less how i approached it.

I eventually figured it out on my own by just quitting for 3 days and then coming back to it. I think I was just thinking about it way too hard and getting overly frustrated. When I came back to it I had that Aha moment and it was suddenly easy lol.

If I remember correctly, the answer is West East South North (press the buttons in this order). I might remember wrong because it's been a while, but I think it was this way.

When all 4 cylinders are green, you've solved it. If they become red, you can reset the puzzle with the button in the back of the room. If you're patient you can always solve it just by trying different combinations until it works.

I still am not getting this. If as you walk in the first button is 1, and going clockwise 2,3,4 .... what is the solution? Can someone let us know [for example: 1,4,3,4,2 etc]

IIRC using the numbers you listed I go 44124. might be off because I didn't go into a game and do that mission to check it so sorry if it isn't working out for you.

Start with the switch directly opposite the reset button. Then just go counter-clockwise hitting the other three in order. Done.

IIRC - I start at the back, then just go around counter clockwise hitting each in turn.

Been playing trough the level several times but not even once solved the Puzzle because of the hidden Pathway in the other room xD
