"The Giant" is a bit rough

I'm not sure if they mean for the two "roadblocks" so far (Darion and The Giant) to be speedbumps during pre-release. I know one dev said more areas of the map would open up after official release and free-to-play began, so perhaps these two bosses cause the player to hit every side quest, bounty, and all the repeatable content in order to gear up for these fights.

I think my momentum is at least a few K past what the main quest seems to call for at this boss and other than being twitch-perfect (not letting The Giant hit you much if at all) I don't see a way to get past him. But some have done it so hats off to their dodge-and-roll skills.

I get the whole "challenge" bit but I also come to be entertained and as a retired feller I don't mind spending a few dollars to be able to upgrade gear. But my hand/finger speed on the keyboard isn't as reactive as it was in even my 40s and I'm not deft enough for this fight at my current gear level. Basically I get hit too much and run out of health tinctures - and my toon ends up dying with the 2nd instance of "The Giant" only down to about 1/2 health.

The same thing sort of happened with Darion, but I ended up defeating him by out-gearing him (if that's the right way to say it). I definitely had way more momentum than called for at that point in the main quest line when I got past him.

So I will continue to grind around the Old Town areas (I think that's the harbor city there) and do my dailies, run the griffon dungeon, and keep working on gear improvement. Cuz I sure ain't going to beat that guy with extra-quick hand/finger keyboard moves, those days are gone.

I thought the Giant was tough, but jeesh the poison lady is annoying as heck the one after the giant. But yeah I had to be like 10k+ above the giant to beat it even with the purple 6 minute buff and the shrine boost.

Good for you guys being all the way down in Old Town, I cant get past the Devion part up in the North Quest lines..I dont get great Drops I am supposed to get, I assume I would have waste lots of money to buy stuff I need to uppgrade my gear..but last I looked at the "Store" it was not much of being overjoyed about, my REQ is higher than my Quest, but the fact that I cant pass this Quest line..while this boss counters all I do..I dont have time for wasting 5-8 hours for each boss fight..this game wants to be an MMO...but doesnt live up to the bare min for it.

Hey there!

Yeah, Davin’s a tough one — you’re definitely not alone on that. He’s got a way of countering just about everything if your setup’s not just right. One thing that might help is throwing on some ointments like Executioner’s Venom (super underrated), and maybe tweaking your traits or skills a bit. Sometimes a small swap makes a huge difference!

Totally get you on the drops and gear side too. We’ve seen some of that feedback come through, and we’re passing it along to the devs!

Also — if you haven’t already, hop into our Discord! Players are constantly sharing loadouts and boss tips, and someone there might have cracked the exact setup you need.

The only reason I won against Devion was that i got lucky and had tier 2 gear with poison buffs reforged plus a ton of poison throwing weapons. however... on the giant my gear has all rolled into horrible bonuses with the new tier so i am just waiting for new gear to appear with the right stats before i go have another go lol

I'm at 20k over on Momentum for the Giant and I still can't beat him :( I know I probably need a better build but so far I haven't had much luck. And it really doesn't help that the drops for rare mats on the Bull seams to be less than .01% lol. I honestly have no idea how low it is but I know it's low. Maybe losing up the rng a bit :D

got three purple hides just yesterday from the bull and a yellow item for the bow in the vendor, maybe it was the 100 percent bonus dont know hahah
