This game, most games that are open world are not Sandbox titles. The two terms are not synonymous. Sandbox games are open world, but most open world games are not Sandbox titles. Only a handful of Sandbox games exist. Minecraft is one. PlayStation Dreams is another. A Sandbox game is where they give you the pail, shovel, sand, and water and let you make your own castles. Hence the name Sandbox.
Thanks for answer. I expected this. I find it actually better this way because devs need to invest more into story and some coherent quests (some of them are probably just fetch quests but... its not all of them).
I have been enjoying it. And if you get in the game and see some of the chat comments of people on the left of the screen you notice two things. First they are having fun. Second, most of them are not spending real world money but rather farming funds from in game. It's a shame so many people are afraid of this title, or else they are just parroting some remarks they have heard.
There are some fetch quests but they feel minimal. Even when those occur, they are in some way tied to the actual story/lore of the world of Ice and Fire. There is enough free roam in the game to satisfy that urge for hours while also giving you direction as to what's next. I just wrapped up 3 hours this morning and if I didn't have a few things to get done I would still be in game.
