Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

Completed the Demo - My opinion
I like the game, so far. The graphics might not be up there on the high end but they aren't bad. But I do hope they improve, especially doing dialogue sequences.

Speaking of dialogue sequences, I was glad to see that most are voiced. What's disappointing is that they used the likeness of the actors from the series, but not their voices? Come on, that's a total letdown. I mean, if HBO can't get the actors to do a few voice lines, at least try AI.

The combat is actually fun, I like the animations, I like the fact that during the fight you can score those critical blows that need to be activated via a key, nice touch that, the dodge feature is just right. Not over the top neither totally useless like in some other names.

The ambiance is very good. There is no point in this game I forgot I'm in Westeros,

The inventory system is a bit of a letdown. It's reminiscent of those pay-to-win games. I had to constantly throw away crap like grain and rags so I can keep looting. It's rather bothersome.
The gear is pretty easy to understand the way it functions, but honestly, you could provide a more comprehensible tutorial for the types of gear, Savant, Brute, or whatever they are called. Nothing fancy, just a few lines describing the role the respective type of gear is meant for.

I was a little disappointed with the lack of armor visuals. I mean, okay, I know there are outfits but I don't really like those personally. I wanna see the avatar going from hobo to whatever is at the opposite end, stage by stage. Add armor bits that show players the progress they make when they upgrade their gear.

I was also a bit disappointed about the lack of weapons types. The knight is stuck with that bastard sword, the sellsword with that giant axe and the assassin with the dual short swords, just those? Maybe they'll add more later, like maybe sword and shield for the knight, double axes for the sellsword and a spear for the assassin. Or whatever else is appropriate.

The mount, it's a pretty good way to get around. You can even interact with stuff while mounted. I liked that. What I didn't like is that the Horse won't trample. I'm not asking for mounted combat (even if it would be nice) but give the horse the ability to knock back opponents, not just get blocked by them. That's annoying.

Also please, think about staying true to the fantasy. So don't add stuff called HP potion. Call it something else. I'm sure there are names for healing potions in Game of Thrones. So yeah, keep it immersive.

Speaking about immersion, I don't know what the deal is, but in Game of Thrones, the westerosi don't use women soldiers. Yes there are several examples of women warriors in the series, but no house employs female soldiers. If you are gonna stay true to the lore, then try not taking such huge liberties.

What I don't understand is the village you are trying to rebuild. What is that? Is it a hub? More? A housing system?
Anyway, please consider the above said, if you are gonna make us upgrade it, at least let us SEE the upgrades. I upgraded it to level 6 or so, maybe 5, didn't see any actual change, it still looks like a depressed half-ruined village.

So yeah, good start for a game, I was expecting much less when I first heard about this, but I'm pleased to see that I was wrong. We as fans of the series deserve a proper game and you might just be the ones to deliver it. What you got so far, developers, is far above anything else that was given. So yeah, keep it up.

Oh and don't kill it with those desperate-needy microtransactions.

I completely disagree in the case of actors, I prefer voice actors over any AI. Besides, it's normal that in games voice actors are different than in movies or series.

I agree with you my friend, also, I would Like to add:
Co-Op history Missions (or Raids) and the possibility to access them on the menu and not in the weirdtree

I think you don't know what's in the final game...like world bosses and so on...

Well yeah, they made this an online game, those things should come by default. Just no large raids, they don't have the combat system for those. Imagine 10-15 people trying to melee one boss. Nah, if they make large raids, they have to be smart about it and make sure that the boss tactics don't involve the whole raid piling up on one enemy.
