Thoughts on the game?

I'm pretty worried about what I've seen so far. At first when it was first revealed I was hyped but then that quickly fell off when apparently this was mobile only yet now it's on steam?? So is this just going to be a mobile game ported to pc or what? The idea of an open world rpg game set in Westeros has always been a dream for us got fans but the early signs were pretty disappointing and I don't really see much discussion around this game so maybe someone can help explain what this is exactly and if I should get my hopes up

It is, i think, more like a port, it is a cross platform game. for example the UI and so on is PC optimalized, not a copy paste port.

I'm right there with you. Was excited until I saw gameplay video. I didn't know it was a port, but that explains the graphics and simple combat system in the videos vs if it were made for console/pc. Demo drops tonight so I'll try it out then and see I guess.

I completely agree with you. I'm disappointed because this is very clearly a mobile game ported to PC. Its unfortunate. I really hope one day a dev will see the immense potential GoTs has for a true open world action RPG game.

My thoughts on the game... I'm playing the demo now and its a fun game, most of the characters are being voiced from the show and not bad graphics... The downside is that I'm using a controller and the cursor with the left joystick won't move and some of the audio during certain parts of the game cuts out... I hope the resolve these issues when it gets released.

It's not bad. Saw a few hitches in frame rate but generally ran smoothly on my ROG Ally X. Controller keybindings aren't where I'd prefer them for actions. Opening mission escaping from White Walkers has some appropriately nail-biting zombie swarm moments.

I wanted to punch Jon Snow in the face, so it's just like the TV show.

Agreed, combat does look inspired by Black Desert. The warrior movement, the strafing side to side and particle effect are look very familiar.

This feels like it took a lot of basics from their other titles like Shadow of War. The sprint, crouch, and some fighting styles feel similar or exactly the same - which is fine with me since those games were top notch for combat.
I was pleasantly surprised by what I found when I booted up the game. never heard of it before and didnt even bother to look at videos or screen shots. its been a lot of fun and i like the aspect of upgrading / leveling up your town. I have only played about 3 hours but i am itching to get back in and play some more. Def gonna try out the other classes. I do wish there was more visual variance in your characters look. New armor, weapons, cloaks, nothing changes your characters actual appearance except for purchased cosmetics. Only major downside so far.
It has some minor jank and clunk around the edges. Some of the ways people talk, move, and fight, seem to be sliding around at times. But overall, this is a game I could see myself buying on release. But IDK if its a $70 game or a $40 game. Time will tell.
