But collecting weapons, tons of food and other stuff is as pointless as it could be. Truth is, people try to say "im prepping for nuclear wasteland and such" without understanding how this actually works.
You arent just at your everyday routine and see a mushroom cloud appearing and then go "ok so i take the tram at 10.00 so i can be in my shelter at 10.40. Im fine because i have an axe to chop nuclear wood and a tent for camping outside until i die from radiation 5 minutes later".
At which point would someone need a camping supply when the world goes ham? Or an axe? When its that bad that the entire planet gets roasted, you can, if you somehow managed to do that, sit inside until you die, as you will never go outside again.
Theres a reason the other 99.9% died on the surface.
I understand the fun of prepping, like having a fun and cool chest with interesting gadgets you will never use and i also understand the psychological effect, you are frightened so you need an achor point.
But you arent going outside to any surface chopping some wood dude, while theres poisonous gas, radiation, solar effects, extreme heat or cold or a burning stratosphere.
I say, once a year pick the stuff you collected, people you like and make a fun camping trip.
For the actual 99.9% of the situations you need to prep for, make sure you have enough toilet paper, fresh water and some durable food stocked and a solar powerbank enough for a week, just like anyone else, and you are fine.
