Don't know what to do, I'll try running it in compatability mode but I'm not sure if thats the same error other people are getting. Currently downloading another game from the bundle to see if that works, but so far this game does not work at all. Very sad, I had a copy of this game when I was a kid but it got lost at some point so I decided to buy the bundle when its on sale, and apparently doesn't even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work. Very disappointed.
The problem with my version of Nancy Drew: Danger by Design is that it won't even start up. I click the "Play" button on Steam in my Library, I get a green square around my avatar and then goes back to blue and the game never loaded. I also try to use the shortcut on my desktop but I get the same thing. Is there a way to fix this?
What I was told when I contacted Her Interactive directly is that most of the games were designed for older windows and they have not been updated when they got put on steam. I have a work around that worked ok in windows 7 for some games (have not tested it in Windows 10), but I have only tested it on my pc and have yet to share it with anyone else, so i don't know if it works for EVERY game, but I know it works for a few of them.
If I remember right it goes as follows:
Go to the game you want to play's folder in the steam folder -> steamapps -> common -> game folder...and then go to the file game.ini and change RunInWindowedMode's value to 0 instead of 1. And save. If it doesn't work, just open the .ini file back up and change the value back.
Thanks for sharing that. I actually fixed it a while ago and it was very simple xD. I have my game shortcuts' in folders on my desktop. After I closed the folder and clicked "Play now" on the game in my Steam library, it worked fine xD.
I've even Alt+Tabbed out of the game and reopened it, and that will sometimes make the menu come up, but then the mouse doesn't move on that screen... Any advice?
