I found a solution. Deleting the Save-game file called DEBUG.sav inside the folder "DeckOfHaunts"-"SaveGames" (in the steam savegame folder) solves the problem and the game is playable again. So somehow the save-file seems to have been corrupted. Still have a copy of the save file on my computer (if the developers need it).
Edits this post to add that I've happened upon another corrupted save file but with an entirely different scenario: Have a save file that starts the game during the "Buy building cards". After cards have been bought and building phase is ended by chosing the "start the night" button the game crashes from this save (whether or not cards are bought of rooms are placed).
C:\Users[USER]\AppData\Local\DeckOfHaunts\Saved\SaveGames
and delete the DEBUG.sav file, that should help with getting stuck in crashing
We have a lot of new fixes that will be pushed as an update to the demo, and the full game next week (the latter including a boatload of content!). However, I think in this specific case the save file is not usable anymore (And you'll have to reset).
