Learn the bosses pattern of attacks. All of their attacks can be avoided as long as you don't evade too soon and trigger the cooldown before the real attack hits.
Make sure you have at least 1 speed emblem so that you are invincible during your evade.
After an attack a boss will often flash yellow. Connecting with a charge attack and the boss will drop yellow orbs that will greatly increase your musou and assemble gauges.

Other than that, in general the game becomes easier over time as you unlock more heroes. Not only do you have better options to choose from and more synergies to unlock, every hero unlocks permanent stat buffs. This maxes out at +100 health, +50% attack and +100% defense which makes a huge difference.

  • Observe their patterns. 2nd flying one will charge in a line twice before being vulnerable, 3rd ghost one will shot projectiles thrice, etc.
  • You can load up on defense for big damage mitigation, the one Treasure for +100% Defense but -20% Speed will make you take single digit and is sustainable (only need 1000ish before post-game).
  • Only buy the Formation(s) that nullify damage dealt (so you're more likely to obtain them at Cauldrons), then get 1 Charm Emblem so you're invincible during Assemble. Butterfly in the top right corner is easily the best one for the increased attack speed.
  • Meter management is slightly important since you get i-frames on your Musou can use the hits to recharge your Assemble. During your Assemble, you can recharge your Musou and use it right before it ends for a True Musou with significantly more damage and all-target range, or hoard it to loop each other. Getting Wisdom to 4 and 8 for increased shots on your summons means more Assemble damage/crowd clearing.
  • Get your ass kicked a few times with the same person until you build up your cumulative level, which is bonus Attack & Defense every 50 total levels out of 500 maximum and seemingly balances out every hero to 750 Attack and 600 Defense (if you've maxed out the skill tree for +100 HP, +50% Attack, and +100% Defense).
  • Consider maining a hero with an Attack increasing passive and/or Unique Weapon and synergies with other characters' Unique Tactics to stack it up to 2000 or higher. I'm currently using Guan Yu, since "Brave General" is the biggest faction in the game (31 when Wei has 18, Shu 16, Wu 15, etc.) and Liu Bei & Zhang Fei can add +100% Attack. Attacklets will have to multi-cycle boss barriers when stronger characters can one cycle.
  • For the treasure with 50% cooldown on Slot 1, you can stack it to 100% reduction with 12 Charm so you can spam the hero attached to your Strong Attack 2 for easy crowd clearing and meter, which is Ranmaru's entire gimmick with Nobunaga.
  • When bossing, you can use your Assemble just as you break a barrier so the burst of all 6 heroes attacks the boss, then basically use your True Musou as the barrier's back up to streamline the process.
  • I think you can only have 1 element on an attack, so getting an element to 4 won't overwrite attacks naturally imbued with an element (like Guan Yu's Strong 2), and raising all of them to 4 won't give you an omni-element attack that benefits from all 5 attack increase, so just focus on your natural one, Slay for crowd clearing + healing, or Wind for defense down.

Yea. I think it gets mostly hard when they call for backup. It makes it hard to focus on the boss when the whole map turns purple lol. But I managed the first boss finally. Just had to play a character that I didn't care for, but was good at using.

Thanks! That's a lot of info! I think I found that I'm good with Hanbei, surprisingly.

Depending on your build it can actually get easier once the backup arrives. If you run so the boss is offscreen they usually won't bother you, while you can recharge your musou and assemble gauges by killing off mooks. I've had fights where it only takes 10 seconds to recharge and go back after the boss again.
DONT SPAM ATTACKS , DODGE AS SOON AS YOUR ABOUT TO TAKE DAMAGE AND YOU WONT, TWO OR 3 SWINGS, GET OUT AND REPEAT.....EACH BOSS HAVE PATTERNS AND THEY REPEAT THEM THE SAME WAY EACH TIME
MAKE SURE YOU ARE MATCHING PERKS WITH YOUR HERO WITH THE OTHER HEROES YOU RECRUIT....LASTLY FIND THE PROPER FORMATION FOR YOUR TEAM TO MAXIMIZE EVERYTHING COLLECTIVELY.
If youre new to the game just be patient. As you learn the patterns and get more comfortable building characters it gets so much easier. If you havent tried a boss more than three times dont worry it gets significantly easier with experience and I can take no damage on any given boss with a decent degree of regularity and I am no master of this game

I finally got the first boss. Just had to learn his moves. I think the hard part is when the ads get summoned, lol

some of the best advice I've heard for dealing with the phase where the adds get summoned is to kill the adds first because they only respawn when you break the boss' barrier again.

Huh? Damn. I thought they kept coming until the boss died... Well this is a game changer lmao. Cheers :)
On harder difficulties you will wanna kil the adds, mainly the spitter things. On the lowest default default difficulty they were not very tanky and not many mobs are spawned each wave, so the fight should not really last long enough for it to matter. You need to dodge a lot more.

I like getting speed 4 on everyone asap as welll as focus on what they are good at (getting all the ice for chaarcters that get a boost when freexing etc). First boss is insanely slow and easy to dodge, get Speed 4 and use dodge whenever you are in a purple thing and you wont have any problems in the default difficulty.

Really userful, you can intentionally not damage/kill the boss to just farm the mobs for exp+hp.
Same for stages that tell you to kill specific units, DO NOT kill those units until you have 10 seconds left, farm the other units for drops and exp.

I see... So is Ice better than fire? Or does it depend? I'm not even sure what Slay does. Lol.

Slay has a chance to instantly kill enemies regardless of damage dealt, and gives you health when they die. It is best for characters with big AOE moves or ones that hit multiple times to maximize the chance of it triggering. At higher levels the activation chance and health refund % increase.
