Unique weapons - how do i use them

Got a unique weapon from a chest but couldn't find out how to equip it, any help?

On the character select screen, below their default personal skill. If you obtain the unique weapon for the character you're playing mid-run, you can view it by pressing Select (or the equivalent button) and going to the Player Hero tab.

Each weapon is locked to a specific hero. On the character select tab, you'll see an icon that looks like a spear in the corner of their portrait if you've unlocked theirs. It is possible to get a weapon for a character you haven't unlocked yet, its completely random.

The weapon gives you access to the character's second skill, which I believe only applies when playing as them, not summoning them. (Can someone confirm?)

Once you've received one weapon from a treasure chest, you can buy the weapon for any character you've already unlocked by going to the hall of heroes and selecting them again. A single weapon costs 50,000 embers.
