Feedback Suggesstion - Dynasty Warriors characters need a buff.
I get it's not a thing from their games, but the Dynasty characters not having dash combos makes them objectively worse than the Samurai characters. They all feel immensely sluggish compared to SW heroes, and a lot of their kits aren't even good enough to warrant not being able to zip zoop around the field while attacking. Every one of them I've tried so far has been underwhelming or downright disappointing compared to the SW's.

Tldr - Dynasty Warriors characters either need to be given dash combos, or they could really use a buff across the board. I ain't gonna be using them like this.

Some of their C1 attacks are very fast, allowing them to easily hit bosses when they are yellow. That also means they can abuse Musou attacks more. Is that enough to compensate the lack of hyper attacks? IDK, but at the same time I would not discard them so fast. Is best to wait until we have more clear view of what is powerful and what isnt.
I see this as a fun challenge
I'll try to beat the game with Zhen ji

I kind of agree, Samurai characters being able to zip around the stages dodging AoEs while attacking and summoning allies is very dominating for this game format.

But I do think they understood this to a degree. At least from the characters I've played, it feels like they gave Dynasty Warriors some crazier attacks in general, especially their unlocked moves and EX attacks. Also, their C1 moves tend to be very fast access to relatively large crowd clearing, and useful for instantly staggering enemies once you pick up one strength emblem.

But it's still not really enough, the mobility and positioning is just too dang good in this game. At least the dodge-offsetting makes any character viable.

I think they seem fairly even. Samurai Warriors are better defensively but their hyper mode combo has pretty crap damage, and it's much harder for them to manage "Telegraphed attack breaks" because their charged attack strings tend to be really long (making it hard to react and control positioning), while their Divergent attacks tend to have pathetic AoE.

Offsetting this for SW, the divergent attacks are better for summoning assists, but offsetting this for DW, is the upgrade to press R1 and instantly summon.

So yeah, they are pretty even imo. They are at least even enough that Guan Yu is able to be super OP while also being a DW character, lol.

tbh dynasty warriors characters are busted. They have really high damage and their summon tactics combinations are really op. I clear most of my runs with them.

The dynasty warriors characters dont have dash attacks though which means they get to weave dashes inbetween their lights without having to restart their combo. Less mobility in their strings but at least for how Ive been playing them much more mobile in terms of being able to dodge without interrupting their damage output.

Dynasty Warriors characters do have dash attacks, and all characters can continue their combo after dashing (not hyper mode combos). The dash attack only triggers if you don't have a combo running or you press the button too late.

He means the Hyper Combos unique to SW characters, the ones that start from the charge attack button (Y on Xbox, right mouse on PC) and finish with the normal attack buttons (X on Xbox, left mouse on PC). These combos only exist for SW character. They move the character a lot, meaning just using them lets you safely avoid almost every purple zone, and on character that have long sequences of charged attacks, lets you quickly access them. But the drawback is they do significantly less damage than normal combos.

Lu Bu, in spite of having long charge attacks at the end of his combos is, so far, the most broken character I've found, in spite of not having a Hyper Combo. But that's partially because his normal attack sequence is fairly mobile.

I think the OP might enjoy Huang Gai though. Press the charge attack button at pretty much any point in his combo and he's zooming off like a complete madman!

One small advantage Dynasty Warrior characters have is that they have instant access to a charge attack, which can be very useful for catching a boss in the vulnerable yellow state for the brief stun, as well as the Musou and Assembly gauge fill up.
