It's seriously annoying, but really thankfully it autosaves after each wave. So at most you lost part of a wave, which isn't a big deal. And about half of my crashes are immediately after an autosave. Such as killing the final boss. The game at least boots up very quickly, so you can be back in the action in about 20 second after crashing.
Have been contemplating getting the game myself, but just to verify for the five of you, did you already refund it due to all the crashing? Or is this from another source?
If the latter, you may have to wait for a cleaner / updated version of that source.
Edit: purchased Steam version to see how often I crash before the refund window
Played a non-Steam PC version for less than 30 minutes.
As of the time of this post, that version froze/application became unresponsive 10+ times when changing maps and when unlocking nodes (Task Manager to close). At one point, when I interacted with a tree to recruit a hero, the game consistently did not display the next screen to pick a hero (Alt + F4 to close). In addition, switching to other costumes resulted in the character disappearing on the character select screen. If you are in this boat, would say to let the provider know in hopes they provide a stable version.
Purchased the Steam version and did not experience these issues across 2 hours and I can no longer do an automated refund on the game.
Crashed or unresponsive 10+ times in 30 minutes on the non-Steam PC version.
Haven't crashed or unresponsive once in 200+ hours on the paid Steam version.
You're faulting the company for the pirates screwing this one up. Half your barking is up the wrong tree and have already dismantled your every possible version argument.
