Uhh, no, it's definitely not a misconception. The definition is literally buying power that you can't earn in-game that makes you stronger in PvP. There's nobody to win against in PvE.
Any advantage that can be bought with real money IS "pay to win". It does not matter if it's convenience, a small boost, consumables, or anything.

A definition exists because it only has one meaning. If you want to make up stuff then you need to call it something else.
It's called "Pay to Win" not "Pay to Win in PvP." If you're paying to win and the end goal of the purchase is to win then it's pay to win. Doesn't matter if it's PvP, PvE, Single player, score attack, time saver, etc. Even if you end up losing it's still pay to win because the goal was still to try to win.
