Ultimate test reward (pink boxes)

The game shows some pink box-like thingies as reward for the ultimate test - what is this? Is it a currency? If so, where do you spend it?

those just turn into random item rewards at the end of your run.

They are turned to random rewards when you finish or leave the test.
