Mission: Rescue
So I have to report that I am basically out of ideas what to do in the third mission of the Blood Angels, Rescue. I kept looking right, left and center on this map for the C.A.T until on some other forum I learned my seargant supposedly already carries it with him. Normally you have to look for it in missions like this, but in Rescue, despite the mission briefing, you apparently already have it.

Well doh ... so okay, off to the exit we go then. I send my sarge through that -1- sign, he is gone - but mission does not end. Next try, librarian is sent through - nada, game still continues. What gives here? Was the mission meanwhile altered through a patch and I just simply haven't found the CAT just yet? Or is this a bug?

The CAT is normally automatically deployed on one of your Terminators at the start of the mission. This is usually the Sergeant, but it can be other marines. Look for the cone-shaped symbol above one of your Terminators; this will be the one with the CAT. If this Terminator is killed before reaching the glowing blue square at the very bottom west of the map, then the CAT will be a small, mobile figure on the board shaped like a mini-tractor with a manipulator arm. You will then have to stand on the same tile as the CAT is on for your Terminator to pick it up.

Ah right - thank you ;)

Edit: Eh, got another question (sorry xD) - the bolters/storm bolters I start out with won't do for closing/fusing doors, right? I've tried and all that happens is the door getting destroyed and being wide open. So which weapons do I need to perma-close doors?

There are a few missions in the other campaigns that require you to actually look for the CATs and the little blighters aren't stationary. They will move around at random. I swear one of them seemed to be running away from me at one point before it ran itself into a dead end genestealer spawn point.

No. Sadly, you can't permanently seal normal doors. There are some missions where you need to close blast doors, those are permanently closed.

LOL! And okay with so far 8 ish hours played I can't really claim to know it is a good or bad idea to not be able to permanently close regular doors - but I guess the devs may have thought it would be too easy? Or maybe some missions would be impossible to finish cause we'd choke of a point on the map? At any rate thanks to you for giving me this info as well, very helpful!

Regular doors have never been permanently seal-able ever since the first board game iteration. The video games are just following in the tradition.

The only reason you'ved ever close a normal door is to make a genestealer waste an action point opening it back up but it's just more efficient to shoot the creature instead.

You're going to encounter faulty jammed doors as you play further on. These are denoted with a lightning bolt symbol above them, just like when your Terminators jam their guns. These can't be opened normally. You have to either shoot them (Recommended) or bash them down with your fists (Not recommended. The chances of success are very low. Your terminator looks like he's politely knocking on the door asking to be let in.) Melee and Heavy class terminators can be equiped with Chainfists to cut open such doors instantly.

Genestealers have an obsession with jammed doors and seem to go out of their way to destroy them.

Right - geez it's ages ago I played the board game and was never a fan of the first SH game on PC (cause 1:1 boardgame to PC translations really isn't for me). Got no problem with regular doors not closing permanently at any rate though. And yes, instead of doing so might as well shoot them.

However what I just said about the first SH surely isn't true with this one - SH Ascension is currently one of my fave games here on Steam, highly enjoying it.
