Read reviews before buying this game.

This game's development has a long awful history behind it. For months and months the game was left in an unplayable state, the development team no longer working on patching it due to their dissolution from bankruptcy, yet continued to sell this game despite it's broken, and abandoned state.
Recently, there has been an attempt by these developer's to correct the broken mess they left the community with for so many months, however it is a work in progress and the end results are still in question.
My personal opinion is that behavior like this should not be rewarded with future game sales.
If you are thinking of buying this, at least look into the reveiws section, and the history within these threads to see how this community has been treated.
Then you can make an educated decision as to whether to purchase this game or not.

Imho with the release of the 1.4.1 official and with 1.4.2 coming in few day i think this thread is useless, why a new customer would even care if the community was "treated bad" if the game now works? Same thing for the reviews section, those review expresses a point of view on this game that was correct until today, but henceforth they are useless too.

It completeable, there is only a minor bug that make disappear the mission button if you swap two termies between the squads but if you swap them from the reinforcements list it's all good, and this bug is related only to the tutorial, swapping termies in normal campaign mission works fine.

Obviously i hope in a fix for that missing button.

Yep. Most people probably won't correct their reviews after the bugs are fixed and new buyers probably don't care about old bugs that have been fixed. So any old reviews may not be a true representation of current state.

The question is, what bugs are left? If I was thinking if buying that's the important info I would want.

The company did not go bankrupt. They only ceased production of new product.

The game was never abandoned, and proof of that is in the current patch available now.

If you want to take the high road, make sure you're not being a liar when you try. Hypocrite.

The game costs less than taking the family out to pizza one night.
The pizza will make you feel good for about 4 hours.
If you like SpaceHulk then you will like this game, and make you feel good a lot more that 4 hours.

Most people don't write reviews with a crystal ball. If they buy a bad/broken game, and even wait for months hoping for a patch, most the time they uninstall and give up on it. They move on and don't reinstall 90% of the time to see if it's improved.

It's not the customer's responsibility to rewrite their reveiw, it's the companies responsibility to make a game that get's a good review in the first place.

From what ive read, for sure this game started off pretty badly bugs-wise, am im sure they've lost sales because of the the poor reviews then. Can only blame bad management for releasing it.

However if you are some of the 10% still checking up on improvements (and the fact you're reading this means you are), then i think its getting there. Thanks entirely to dedicated developers who no longer have the support of the sales team to promote the improvements.

This is true. However it does mean that some reviews are invalidated.

This game was essentially dropped of all support for months. The developers also never left any updates on the forums for those months with regards to patch progess, or whether we'd even receive a patch to fix a game they continued to sell and knew was unplayable.
That is incredibly bad ethical behavior on the part of the developer, and it it this I'm warning new buyers about.
Regardless of whether this game ultimately gets fixed, there are a lot of people who don't want to support developers who engage in shady/poor business practices.

Prospective buyers are free to do what they want with there money, I just want to make sure they know what type of company they are supporting.
The most recent attempts at a patch, don't somehow erase the months that this game was left unplayable, and completely unsupported.

All those negative reviews exist as a document of this developer's poor conduct, and for that reason they are incredibly relevant.

Fair enough. Those are a lot of subjective terms but you're entitled to your opinion. Personally, I just buy games I like and don't get caught up in consumer politics.

This reminds me of SO many games released this year. Totally buggy and unfinished, all with the promices of being fixed; maybe; possibly; some day; in the future.

I'm telling you, buying games now'adays is like giving money to a total stranger and asking him to go buy you a toaster and bring it back to you. Flip a coin if you'll ever get what you paid for.

I'm happy with the money i spent on this game. Not so happy with the game all the time, but that is because it can chew you up sometimes. Not so rough as the original, have to give that one another spin soon too.
