Combi-Weapons or Storm Bolter

So, I just got Combi Weapons unlocked and I have to say, I am not as impressed as everything I was reading made me think I would be. The flamer or plasma isn't worth all the missing I seem to do and I seem to have performed better with Storm Bolters. Now, in the interest of fairness, I did find a chest that gave my Storm Bolters +1 damage, so they do 2 damage on a hit instead of 1, this increased their effectiveness a lot.

Anyway, is there some secret to combi weapons I am missing or some reason that people love them so much? Was I just spoiled by the +1 Storm Bolter damage and Combi Weapons would look better if I didn't have that? My Ultramarines all have 4 BS right now.

The main reason to choose a combi-weapon is Bolter overwatch. The flamer/melter/plasma part is a nice addition.
The Bolter part of a combi-weapon is arguably better for overwatch than a Storm Bolter. If one weapon has one or two relic upgrades and the other does not, things change. Relioc upgrades are powerful, maybe even overpowered.

For me, the combi-bolters are all a step up from the Storm Bolter for the reason alone that they don't jam. You never have to worry about leaving a few AP over for clearing jams with any of the combination bolters. Their versatility and the additional options they give you are also a great bonus. It's a no brainer for me.

I think if my Storm Bolter didn't have the +1 damage bonus, it would be more of a conundrum, but right now, the Storm Bolter doing 2 damage per attack is really making me think I might be better off going back to Storm Bolters.

if you can be can bothered to get the relics its storm bolters all the way although the combi flamers are usful in multi cleanes mssons IMO

That's pretty much the general consensus, combi-weapons are more useful unless you have a bunch of relics in which case storm bolters become OP.
