Then again even those have some missions involving two squads, I think.
If I recall correctly you are not forced to use the two full squads even if the mission says so.
Most missions will ask you to deploy 3 to 5 men, allowing you to leave the remaining 5-7 Terminators on hold during the deployment phase.
Those can be deployed (or not) later during any turn at your choice.
Playing several campaigns simultaneously lets your terminators gain experience on the easier early missions, making the difficulty curve of the later missions less steep, and helps to smooth out the overall increase in difficulty over the course of the playthrough.
Finishing one campaign after the other will result in several drops in difficulty when you take on the next campaign's easy earlier missions.
The most efficient start would probably Sin of Damnation (Blood Angels) mission 1 "Beachhead" followed by Harbinger of Sorrow (Dark Angels) mission 1 "Outer Bastions".
Both are two-squad shooting galleries that'll give you a much-needed headstart on XP.
Then, you leave the rest of the Harbinger of Sorrow for later/last, and probably focus on the 3 stock campaigns first. They're generally a bit easier, the DLC campaigns all add additional elements/challenges on top of the basic formula.
Two squads can be more tedious than one, and might feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to it quickly, and in some missions, you'll simply need every terminator you can deploy.
Rogue Mode is strictly one squad, but you'll probably want some campaign experience first before heading in there, if for no other reason than to have a decently levelled squad to take into it.
Both Shield of Retribution and Forge of Heroes are easier with a couple of chainfists in the early missions.
Bringer of Sorrow is brutal. Low level terminators die in droves.
