My character is an adventurer and I'm doing various mediator quests to build experience before doing the final advanced adventurer exam. My question is, should I also take the lectures in maritime and trade in the academies or do I have to change jobs to do that?

You don't _have_ to change jobs, but it's recommended. If you attend school with a job in that category, you'll get twice the experience and fame received from the lectures. So, it's best to switch to a merchant job before starting trade school, and a maritime job before starting maritime school. If you've completed Adventure Intermidate, you should have at least one each of the Merchant and Maritime guild cards, so switching should be easy and cheap: just go to the respecitve guild master for each category.

I recommend to do the activities in the related jobs, you get double the fame/experience and favored skills advancement. Its not needed, but recommended. Exchanging jobs in uwo is simple and you dont lose anything from doing it, you can change back to previous job without the need of a card.
