We need online mode.
It's unfortunate this didn't release with online capability. We really need that in 2025. Kind of pointless to bring back a classic without updating some basic features.

Without the source code, I doubt that it would happen. Online mode will be brought back for Backyard Football '99 and Baseball '01, though. Besides, we still have achievements in Backyard Baseball '97.
