Multiplayer?
It currently says single player.. Have they mentioned if there will be multiplayer support for this?

I don't think so unfortunately... They mention that they were unable to access the source code and without that, it would be impossible to shoehorn in a multiplayer mode. The only way would be to manually decompile the entire game and work from there. But the process of decompiling is very long, incredibly complicated and probably not worth the resources for most game studios. Humongous Entertainment utilized the SCUMM engine to create the game originally, which I hear is notoriously difficult to work with, mainly due to how obsolete it is. With SCUMM's latest release being from 1998, you can see why even setting up a good and reliable environment to test in is just a huge headache.

Doesn't look like it outside of leaderboards. Backyard Baseball 97 didn't really have multiplayer outside of hot seat. Backyard Baseball 2001 did have online play though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ty4Z7B0Tpak&list=PL9S1MoIX9P5FN3ZGxqJXWssoY3i723roo

It wasn't that notoriously hard to work with at the time considering they built a full sports game on-top of a game engine that was exclusively made for adventure games. However it's more that the tools at the time to build the game were extremely primitive and ran on DOS. And they didn't really distinguish between the game's engine and the actual in-game content.

Sadly no and I wish there was, but it would have been incredibly difficult to add.

The 2001 and 2003 version had multiplayer; The original version never had it.

When I say "hard to work with" I just mean in terms of decompiling the game. And a reason why is SCUMM being legacy.
They can't change anything in the code, so no. And now I'm extremely sad that even the original didn't have 2 player, I don't think. :(

I'm pretty sure Backyard Baseball 2003 did NOT have multiplayer. 2001 only had multiplayer through online play.
